Thanks LC. I will give that a try on my original image. Since I will be entering it in competitions, I am limited in what I can do with the background. I do like the increased detail of the bird however. |

Great detail on the Tarantula Frans. I do find the background, especially on the right, a bit distracting. Since you used focus stacking, I wonder if you could lighten the background on the images before you stack them? Also if you could darken the white area in the upper left side I think it would help keep the viewer's eye from wondering up there.
BTW, when I lived in Texas, I twice saw what was described as a Tarantula migration with 20 or so of them in a group wondering up a roadside. |

Bosque. Much better access to the birds than other places we've tried. |

We had planned a trip there last December but other events overshadowed it. It would have been my 4th. Maybe next fall. |

I agree with you that darkening the background would indeed help the separation, however, I will be entering this image in competitions so I cannot do that per PSA guidelines. Thanks for the input as it confirms my thoughts as well. |

If you are going to be in the general Ocala/Crystal Springs area, let me know so we can meet. I live in the small town of Beverly Hills and would be happy to take you to La Chua Wetlands in Gainesville where I shot this Kite. |

That indeed is a lot of birds. Love the sky colors and it really enhances the overall image. Was this at Bosque del Apache by any chance? |

I blew the image up and it appears both birds are certainly in very acceptable focus. You might want to try cropping the top just a little and the right side enough to take the right hand snag away. I think this might bring more emphasis to the two birds. Very nice image. |

Love the dichotomy between the bird and the sign. Nice capture. |
