Thanks for the background haze trick Frans. I'm going to try that. |

Thanks David. I did use a ring flash and that resulted in the black background. I thought about using focus stacking, but the frog wouldn't stay in one place very long. Instead I set my 105 mm macro lens to f16 for more DoF and took a chance it would be enough. |

Sharp bird image regardless of the sticks! The bird does indeed look like he's in hiding. I would suggest possibly darkening the water areas as my eye goes to them first due to their brightness, and possibly cropping just a little on the top and right side to more emphasize your subject. Merritt Refuge is a great place to shoot. |

Really like the way you've cropped the image - it portrays determination coupled with fierceness. I would suggest possibly removing or blurring the "jagged" part of the right wing at the upper edge of the image above the head, and possibly color correcting the areas that look blueish on the back of the wing. Great capture. |

Great Bokeh. Really sets your subject up. I like how the vine provides a lading line for both birds, and also the different actions of the birds. Nicely done. I can't see any way to improve the image. |
