Hi Priscilla, Nice, sharp image of the butterfly wings. The background is nicely blurred, setting things off very well. I am not sure what to do with the flower, but perhaps a greater depth of field might have provided more options in addition to bringing the head of the butterfly into sharper focus. Honestly, I have had so much trouble with DOF on these small images that I have started bracketing apertures to be sure I have several options to choose from; just an idea that someone recommended to me that has been helpful. |

Murphy, I always wonder how to do these shots well and you have provided a perfect example. The colors come together so well, and I like the softness of the leaves producing such a nice, comfortable fall effect. |

Khai, delightfully sharp subject with an equally delightful blurred background. It's the reason I asked you to elaborate on your method of sharpening an image. The lighting and colors come together for an excellent image. |

Lisa, I'm sorry if I switched the images. I don't have any way to distinguish the two except original and main. Please let me know if you want me to go back and switch them.
I don't have the same reaction as Khai, but this is a pretty scary image to show to a bunch of unwary photographers who have been tramping around in the woods all summer. Nevertheless, it is an excellent shot, and you were very brave to get so close, even using a long lens. I also like the processing using two different methods and wish we could see them side by side the same size to compare. The texture, background, coloring and composition all come together for an excellent image. |

Hi Karen, what a cute, interesting little figure. I can image him provoking some very deep thoughts. The light along with the shadows it produces in the photograph is delightful and very well done. I like also the texture of the figure along with the way the background colors compliment the figure. For me, the dark brown background is not as distracting as is the line that separates the two colors running through the head of the image. His contemplative face is what I find most interesting. |
