Hi Priscilla, I like the two together and the colors. As others have said, the texture in the flowers are well done as is the overall image, particularly shooting this close without a tripod. |

Hi Pat, the image takes me back to my grandfather's workshop where he used to spend most of his time after work and on Saturdays. The ruler is well-used and wonderfully textured, and the pencil adds just the right touch coming in from the bottom right. The overall lighting contributes to the special mood of the image. Of course, your "tool" images are some of my favorites. Thanks for sharing. |

Hi Khai, I think the colors in the image are nice as is the sharpness of the butterfly. I don't see a problem with the composition you have originally since I like the background colors that match those in the butterfly, but I like the second one you put up as well. I did think Lisa's use of Nik software did some really nice things with the colors and the texture of the butterfly, but depending on preference, all these images are really nice. The only thing that bothers me a little is the blurred part of the leaf at the very front. My personal preference is to have those parts of the subject with a butterfly sharp, but again many artists and judges blur those these days. |

Hi Lisa, beautiful image this month. I love the colors and they neat way they work together, as well as the subject positioned against the background in order to provide a sort of frame for the it. The composition seems perfect to me and the depth of field along with the sharpness of the subject front to back is really nice. I have no suggestions; just kudos for a really nice image. |

Hi Karen, Interesting to know that this is ice, and amazing the colors and texture that I find here. It looks like something I would find in one of the old steel mills on display now in Birmingham. As to cropping, I think this is fine, but if you have enough at the side and bottom, I thought you might try moving the round ball a little to the left to see how that feels. For me, this sort of image works best with everything sharp primarily due to the industrial look for the subject, and I wish we had a deeper depth of field. It's an interesting image and a fascinating treatment of ice in my opinion. |
