what a great comment Norm!!!!
I can write you a 10p. essay about that. In essence 2 elements to consider:
1. The 85 mm is "cutting" the distance between the layers making it all look like one flat plane (the intent).
2. Wide angle will increase the barrel aberration looks which will give more attention to the mulions than the "tile pictures". My intention was the focus on color and different tiles on one big flat plane giving the depth of sense via reflections.

This is a great shot. Im guessing you took it from long distance and cropped it. Still In my view i would not change a thing. I love it.

Hi,
Very good subject and very strong foreground.
to me the sky is over statureated. see proposed crop without the distractions on the left. |

Still Nature. Very compelling. I like it. The texture and softness it tells of...
One thought - a bit brighter on the left. |

Well it's tilted. You are absolutely correct. These are mud houses. |

The low light and the reflection is making this picture standout. The car the electric pole and the water spill are major distractions. Try a different angle.

Grace,
I like the farming of the flag on the left an the tree on the right. It locks in the subject. One thought for you: big shapes are getting more attention. And the cemetery is equal to the trees. This raises the question which is the subject and which is the background ?

The picture is done right. Exposure, composition etc.
I have 2 thoughts:
1. The clarity / dehaze caused the snow to look black.
2. A vertical crop of one tree alone will give the same atmosphere. Yes a different picture but just a different view. |

L,
three thoughts:
1. the podium and the legs are showing blurr.
2. The tree tops on the bottom right are suggesting a vertical crop to remove them.
3. The moulin line between the floors is inline with the head. Preferable above or under giving the head space. |

This is the exact intent to strip down the forest to its basic elements and keep you engaged.

Yep. Looking like into a fabric. The fabric of forest. Stripped from all layers and colors to the basic elements making the forest.

Well done Clark. The layering, the light, the high contrast, the strong texture. It all works very well.

I Like very much the tonality from black to white from left to middle. Very good portrait. Is it staged?

Elisie,
Definitely an interesting subject. I recommend you the following exercise. Try photographing the subject from 4 different directions each picture once standing once from a lower angle. print them all out 4/6" put them on the table and choose one. Only one. Then reason what led you to choose that specific print. |

Hi Dale and nice to meet.
This is a good composition. The light is difficult. If you had the opportunity I would recommend returning to retake the photo when the light is more even. Another thought: big shapes get more attention. In your composition the forest and the river are equal. Is that the case ? |

There is a good sense for forest. The tonality is very good. Composition - is more of a personal flavor. I like the Three vertical tree lines in the middle. |
