Your comment is spot on and exactly for theses reasons I shy from submitting to PSA. My experience of the judging panels is not high at most.

Great composition as always.
My only thought is the white balance. The green tone is too strong in the foreground, in my view. Maybe a local correction will do the trick.

I like this a lot. For me the black front add to the "heavy" feeling. Very well done.

This is a retro like 1930's portrait. Very nice. Perhaps darken the edges to give it the more "original "feel"

John,
I love the symmetry. This picture can work well in color but if I had to choose - then BnW high contrast. The shapes in the composition are outstanding !

No editing. no cropping. No removing flare. a photographer is solving all inside the camera in my view.

The sun flare are natural and they were there when I took the photo. They make a part of reality.

Hi G,
This is a great picture. My only comment to you is the white balance. It seems to me the picture is too yellow |

The correction adds a solid base to the picture. The horizon may be a parallax issue if you aimed a bit right side. This can OR not be adjusted on the Left/ Right rotation slider. Regardless this is a super picture. |

Thank you. A picture that evokes feelings (good or bad) is what makes a picture good in my view. Thank you for the compliment.

L,
As always perfect technique and composition. A few thoughts:
1. Increase contrast to have blacks in the rocks.
2. It seems the horizon is tilting downwards on the left.
This is a definitely a keeper.

B, This is ART. I love it.
I would recommend you try a higher contrast and darken the sky on top. It may give it a more moody feeling. Great work! |

Bill, This what makes photography so interesting. If you break this picture to its elements one at a time by the book - nothing works. Yet, the picture works wonderful. In a full sense and harmony. all the separate elements come together so perfectly. Where this is not your best picture I have seen, but as an example of how the antithesis can create a new thesis this is probably one of the better ones I have seen in years. Wow! |

Personally I like this ver. more than the other ver. Not for the colors but for the texture. The reflections from the snow and the tonally range here gives the picture a smoother easy feeling that allows the viewer to concentrate more on the pier and lighthouse. More so, the red lighthouse on the blue background is more visible than, on the orange colors in the other picture. |

Clark, welcome.
This is a nice picture and the sense of isolation and farm life is strongly transferred. The white tones are great. A couple of thoughts:
1. More sky may increase the sense of isolation.
2. Around the house and trees behind, the details are overly sharp. Either clarity slider or somewhat of the editing is not natural.
I love the white trees on the right as well. |

Hanna, Welcome to the group. This is a beautiful portrait and looks very natural. nicely done. I have never seen portrait pictures in this group and I do not know if this is the best place. I will leave it to Michael, he is the boss. I like the picture a lot.

Elise, the potential of the picture is big the the execution is good. I wonder if you walked around the tree grove and this was the best angle to isolate them from the surrounding ? |

Very nice picture D. I understand the intent of creating the relationship between the subject and background yet, in my view closing in, cropping at the price of cutting the monastery in the back is still better than the distractions around. |

Very good work M. the lighting on the trail and the soft contrast makes this picture superb. One question - what's the white line around the black diagonal branch on the left ?
