Hi All, thank you for your feedback. I think this is what I am expecting from a discussion group. I posted this image with the specific purpose to get a feedback and not expecting anything else of your comments.
When I saw the scenery, I had to make fast decision and decided to go with a slow shutter speed to get some idea of the girls running. When I looked at the image back, it never convinced me. I was not sure why, so I posted it. Clearly, the image did not result in what I had in mind. Probably I had to use even a lower shutter speed, or maybe it would have been better to freeze the image by using a faster shutter speed. I disagree with Bruce the image lack of sharpness. Indeed, the beach is very sharp to my eye, so the blurring is because of the low shutter speed. Saying that, I can now see why this image did not appeal to me too.

Thank you Kerry for your detail analysis and comment on my image. Regarding the cropping I tried to that, but I endorsed strict rules about my images. I have those horizontal all 3:2 and vertical 4:3. So if I crop more, than there won't be enough space between the left and right margin and the girls.
Thank you again for sharing your thoughts.

Kerry, you choose a great point of view for capturing this lady performance, the light is perfect the chosen wide aperture was great to make the background blurred. Only, I wish the big green post in the background would not compete with the lady. Even if it is blurred it is a strong distracting element in the image.

Bruce, this is an interesting capture that suggest the youths in the picture are learning the skill of judging the animals. I know is a difficult situation, but I find that having everyone (even in the background) sharp is distracting. For example the man with the big hat in the background is keep attracting my eye.

Bev, I think Isaac's comment is spot on. Few years ago people was used to take a break and talk to other people, now you take a break from work to get busy with our "unpaid work" making the social richer...

Isaac, this is a funny image of a tourist mimicking the posture of the statue creating almost a live version of it. I like the contrast between the two shoes.
The image tells a story even without your explanation

Isaac, thank you for your analysis of my image. The answer why this is black and white is very simple. It was a gray rainy day.... so no vibrant color. I just wanted to tell the story of these girls coming out of the cold water on a winter day.

Thank you Mike, I much appreciate you sharing your thougths on this. I think your comment goes well with my intention to show how the same subject photographed at the same time, in the same condition may raise completely different feeeling if the image is black and white or in color.

John, I may be sensitive to this, since I am italian, but I think this image is more typical of a place on the Mediterranean sea more of typical of Italy. Indeed, if you go to Malta, Cyprus or to the south of Spain, you can find similar urban landscapes. Plus, Italy is very diverse because historically it has been dominated by fourth major cultures in the 1700-1800. The French in the North west, the Spanish in the south, the Austrian Hungarian emperor in the North East and the Vatican in the middle. So, each area shows architectural features typical of these cultures.

Being Italian, and having spent several vacations in Sardinia, I think this image captures well the idea of a town on the Mediterranean sea. The narrow alley, the balconies with plants, the white and yellow walls. This is the kind of image that alone is nice, but it would be much better if you put together with others so that you show your connection with the place and not only an "instagram" shot. Obviously, this is not the purpose for this group, but I encourage you to do so.

Thank you John, for sharing your thoughts. I kept purposely the water at the minimum to give just an idea where it is. I am practicing in simplifying my composition by not putting things that do not matter much (at least in my mind). The image is straight, as demonstrated by the buildings and the temple. The perspective create the effect. but I can't correct it.

Tom, judging a photo is a subjective matter. So, no need to apologize. I see the color picture may have some appeal (and indeed it has to me too). I personally, like the black and white for the reasons I mentioned above. Regardless, I am happy you like both!

very nice serene aerial scenery John. You have a beautiful light and capture a typical sunset scenery on the beach.
I think your horizon is tilted and maybe this is just distortion from the perspective. However, a good friend of mine that is an international recognized photographer, taught me that if you feel is not straight you need to fix it even if the grid show it is straight.
Saying that, I think this is a nice image, but not much different from many sunset images posted every day on the web.

Mike,
I am not an expert of bird photography. So take my comments with grain of salt.... I like the composition but I think the image is soft. Particularly in the area of the eye, that in wildlife photography is often the anchoring point.
As a side note, maybe this picture would be better for a bird discussion group instead of "landscape" group.

Spring, this is a an excellent travel/documentary image. The relative slow shutter speed is perfect for both capturing the waves and the clouds. The light and pastel color palette is providing a feeling of calmness and serendipity.
Excellent work

Dennis, the pastel color of the sky and soft light, really makes this image special. I think your composition is spot on, the perspective is perfect (all building are straight despite using a wide angle lens), and slow shutter speed capturing the boat provides some dynamism to the scenery.
Can't think of anything to improve this.

Tom, my daughter is a graduate of William and Mary, so I know this place very well visiting it several times. Williamsburg is a sort of Dysneyland for photographers. You capture the building in an excellent way with great light and the sky is adding some nice contrast. All together this is an excellent documentary image.
