Thank you Srijan for taking the time to comment on my image. I think with the correction done in the other additional image added, the white balance was ok (at least on my calibrated monitor). Is early morning and the light is tending to magenta a little. Regarding cropping, this is the image I capture. The GFX100s is a medium format camera. I personally try to avoid 16:9 crop for my pictures. Just a personal choice.

Spring is hard to say how to fix the burned out clouds. I don't use PS. I have however noticed that with Capture 1 this becomes a problem when you increase dehaze and clarity of the sky too much. You have not provided details regarding which camera do you use. But with the current mirrorless camera the dynamic range is so good that in this situation I would expose for the highlights and recover the shadows in the post process. It would be interesting to see your original image.

Mike, I think your image as the potential to tell a story. I am not bothered much by not seeing the shoes of the boy. What is bother me more is that the image is very soft and the curtain on the left side create an obstacle and don't have much interest. Maybe moving to the right you could have a better image.

Welcome to group our Spring. You start with an impressive image. I think your composition is spot on and so the sharpness. However, for my personal taste the image is over saturated, and the red color is too much. It convey more the feeling of a pictorial interpretation of this landscape, rather then a representation of the reality. Also the highlights in the clouds are burned out. If this is the effect you wanted you surely reach your goal.

Tom, I think this image as a great potential. The colorful buildings and the great light on the sky have the potential to create one of those images with a "wow" effect. I agree however with Nigel and Mike about the cropping. I think your image is following the rule of third, 1 third for the water in the foreground, 1 third the building and 1 thirs the sky. But it is hard to identify what you want the observer to look at. I think less water and having the building in the foreground with 2/3 for the wonderful sky would have create a more powerful image. Just my 2 cents thoughts.
Have a great Holiday Season!

Thank you Nigel, I think all together this light was ok for this kind of image. The day after a storm arrived and it would have been a different and more dramatic image, but I was on another place...

Thank you Tom for your very kind comment. I am happy this image has raised curiosity in you to explore more the story of this place. It was worth to be there early when nobody was around. |

HI Mike,
thank you for sharing your thoughts. Indeed, review the image on my "calibrated" monitor it was presenting a purplish tint. I have corrected it and uploading the new one. Let me know what do you think

This image is nice Susan. I think you are right the face of the man is telling a story. However, I think this is getting lost in the image. Everything that does matter in this picture is on the left of the image. If you crop from the right you can essentially get the image focus on the two people while still keeping some of the balloon that provide context. Another thing (but this is a very picky one), I think that if the woman had been a little less overimposed on the male the image would be stronger. The image is also a little soft, but I think this is because the compression.

Keisha, this is a great image that tells a story. The eye easily recognize the women are the subject and they are excited about the music. We see just the lower part of the body of the person on stage, but it doesn't matter because we know he or they are able to create excitement. Everything else in the image is just help to understand where it has been taken and does not create distractions. Great work.
Have a great Holiday season

Lou this is very nice image. The use of a relative slow shutter speed add some feeling of "action" to the image while is still clear what is going on. To me what is putting down the image is the car in the background that is very bright. My eye keep going to that car. Possible solutions to me are: cropping it out, clone it out, or trying to selectively tone it down by de saturating the blue selectively.
Best wishes of a great Holiday Season

Hi Lou, thank you for taking the time to look and comment on my image. I am happy you like it. It is one of those images we can take because by luck we are at the right spot at a right time. Few years ago in a day like that one I would not have being around with my camera...
