Hi John,
thank you for your input. I have sky replacement sofwares (luminar). However, and this is just a personal choice and do not intend to judge others, I don't like to change artificially what I see. I tried to use sky replacement for some images of mine, but at the end I decided I prefer to work with what I have.
thank you a lot for taking the time to look at it.
best wishes

Yes Mike, we are on the same page here. Again, I was very happy your comment helped me to figure out reason this image did always look ok but had the feeling there was something not working.

A wonderful image John. I agree with Mike that it could benefit from some selective dodging of the lights through the branches.
Well done!

Thank you Mike for commenting on my image. Much appreciate especially because you was able to find a reason why, while I love this image, I always thought there was something missing. Obviously, I could not make the clouds (I am not one of those using sky replacement) or add a sailing ship there. But I see your point. Originally, I thought the empty space was ok to provide a sense of "infinite when we look at the ocean" but I think it had to be another image to provide that.

Nigel,
this is a very nice "fall" photo. I can almost feel I am there surrounded by the trees. I think your choice of a vertical format help this image. Very nicely done.

Mike,
This is a beautiful image of a very important butterfly, that is essential for pollination. I love the color and the pose. I have to disclose that macro is not my forte, but I agree with Mike that removing the flowers helps to eliminating distracting elements and sharpening the butterfly is making this image even better.

Theresa,
Joshua tree National Park is a beautiful park plenty of photography opportunity. I think your image is a good representation of the area itself. I like the way you have isolated the tree and the balance of the rock in the background. Beautiful colors and great work in creating an HDR image that is still "a real image". I agree with Tom's comment.
Best wishes

Tom, a very interesting story. Without reading it this image can be anywhere in the world. The color of the sky are really just nice complement to the intensity of the color of the murals. I like the contrast between the dark area and the painted buildings, however I personally find that opening the shadows and the black would help. Those black area are distracting to me because my eye keep going there asking what is there. I would also personally have tried to get more of the base of the buildings but I guess there could be limitations to the amount of space you could place between your shooting point and them. Having some of the artists would also have helped to realize where this image was taken. All of these comments are just a personal taste, and I think your photo is really nice. |

Tom,
thank you for looking and commenting my image. You were right. This was taken with 20 sec exposure (sorry I forgot to add this information). I set white balance on fluorescent to emphasize the pastel colors of the blue hour.
Thanks again! |
