Don't know how i missed , and was stumped so I went back to the location and think it was the shadow of a sign. |

This captures the moment well, in focus and the detail in the face really add to the hand gesture. Worked for a long time with an Italian and adapted a lot of his expression his hand communication, he and others I worked with were very expressive with there hand, although in our environment (underground mining) this look and gesture although sort of meant the same as your title it was not nearly as polite. Would not change a thing in your image |

Hi Bev, I like the timing of the image showing the man lighting his smoke I cropped it somewhat so that the cannons form a frame to the man and also enlarged the man showing his features a bit better. made a slight adjustment to the overall toning and a bit more sharpening in Topaz |

I like the photograph showing a beautiful fall landscape with the intrusion of the woman into the scene. I think I would darken the bright area on the left and perhaps crop to put a bit more attention on the woman. Just a thought but depending on personal taste not really important to what you presented. |

I like the image showing a typical activity at a sidewalk cafe. I it is something that is similar to here and relatable the light sepia show up well in this image as the expessions on the faces of the groups of people who although engaged seem to be in their own world (at their own tables with their own companions) I love the dog in the image , looking at his face i feel he seems to be thinking "when are we going to get up and actually do something" |

This image does tell a story, to me it shows a man walking down a street in an older area of a town. I did not see the information as you described relating to the social structure. I also could not determine what he was holding in his left hand although I suspect it was of some value to him due to the item being strapped to his wrist. I did a similar crop to Isaac's but although the man did gain a bit more prominence I do not think it made any significant improvement to the overall image or story. The major problem is the cut off of the one hand. If it is cropped above the wrist then the cut off would be at the hip and a similar problem would exist. ie: cut off at a joint. Perhaps with the 24mm focal length (about 36mm on a crop sensor ) and more so on a full frame the only solution would be if you were in an area and had the time to change your location so that you could frame the image to include more of the individual . the only creative solution would be to use AI and with some luck generate the lower part of the man and the wall, and that might be a shot in the dark. That solution however would eliminate the the image as a competitive image in most jurisdictions |

This is a common scene in many communities, the uniqueness of the image is the overall environment showing the difference of the location with features not seen, say on a street here, contrasting with the clothing of the students which can be seen almost anywhere. It is a good image of a busy street with attention to the activity underway. I cropped the image slightly on the left to remove features which do not add to the story I see in the image. |

The BW is my favourite of the two. It has good detail in the shadows and the whites are not overpowering. I did three edits in mono that changed the toning, and none of them did anything for the image. I think you nailed it with this one. |

In the colour image the green background is not as distracting as in the BW, Having said that I do like the BW better as the cattle stand out better, and the composite is well done. If you did not say it was two images I would not have noticed. As to the background I made a change in lightroom using the brush tool and eliminated a lot of the white and still kept some detail. |
