Nice capture with your cell phone Barbara. Your separation between the background and the subject is right on, bright sharp subject and blurring background. Shadows on the leaves and the yellow and green tones are vivid. I would try a slight reverse radial gradient to accent the flower.

This photo reminds me of a song "Nothing but blue skies do I see" and then the birds in the photo make me think of news articles of jets ingesting flocks of birds. Nice simplistic shot of technology and nature! |

I have recently been experimenting with textures myself and I have pondered several times about What,Why and When I would use textures. Your choice of a texture has started you in the right direction. You started a drama with a storm. Your thoughts of masking the flowers would make this photo jump out at you. These flowers jump out at you already, but the contrast in the foreground and background would be great. I would sure like to see your photo after you mask it. Your pondering could be a grand slam! |

Interesting photo Gaetan. Of all the trees in the forest, this one fell over.
I feel the photo is not as sharp as it could be. Maybe a little over saturated, maybe a little contrasty. See if those changes would help. Also try a little High Pass filter.
Nice composition. |

Gorgeous shot of the flowers,Judith. You have kept it very simplistic and pleasant to the eye. Colors and tones blend perfectly. I like the colored border and it is well done with the border not cutting across flower stems. It is a Winner! |

Nice capture of the old mission. It sure shows its age along with what looks like a fire in its history. Sharp leading lines that hold the viewers eye. Its architecture gives it a tunnel appearances so I would create "The light at the end of the tunnel."
The brick arches and the wall behind the arches could be made brighter or something added to keep the viewers eye. Even moving one of the pots near the arches and lighting it up. Your call. I like it. |
