I like the photo, but not sure I like the bird, because I feel that it just disrupts my feeling of foreboding that I get from the two trees, the graininess, and the sky. I disagree with Michael B. about the building. I think adding more building would be even more disruptive than the bird. |

Michael,
Great shot! The whole flower is nicely in focus, making me at first thinking that it was a product of focus tacking, but hen I read your comments. Can you pass on the lens, aperture and ISO. It is beautifully done. I love the way you 'removed a few of the background leaves,' and left just enough that seemed to help emphasize the beautiful while petals. Very nice artistic touch. |

Adi,
What a great scene. My wife and I are headed there at the end of February and really looking forward to it since I haven't been there for almost ten year. I spent many weekends there back in the early 70s when I was stationed a Fort Dix in New Jersey. I am so glad to seen your shot in b&w. It is easy to get lost in all the glitz and color of NYC, so viewing it in b&w is a real treat. You have done a great job of capturing the variety of a very busy center city. From the pavement to the sky the tone is varied and interesting. |

Don,
A stunning landscape photo: The kind I would like to think I could someday produce. It really gives me the feeling that you must have had sitting or standing there looking through your camera lens just prior to snapping shutter. This certainly is one you should print. Great shot. |

Thank you Lance.
Since I don't sell, and have no intention or ambition to sell, my biggest problem is where to display. My walls are already filled. I do give photos away to friend on occasion and will print one for a friend if desired. I too love the picture, just don't know where I would put it. |

Thank you, Michael. Actually, you can see the entire mountain on the right, and I have attached it to this response.
The only thing I did that might be considered a technique I guess is use manual metering of the light. Lucky for me, the sky was fairly overcast so there wasn't a lot of variation in light across the scene. I did shoot from a tripod and simply took a series of shots moving the camera across the landscape. I used LR Classic to stitch the individual photos together asking the software to remove any ghosting. After that, a slight adjustment was made for texture and clarity along with a few tonal adjustments for HSWB.
I love this picture, unfortunately photos like this are hard to produce hard copies of |
