Group Round C/R Comment Date Image
83 Nov 23 Reply Michael - My comments on your photo are not meant to criticize, and I hope we all understand that. It is simply the impression I am left with after viewing. I am not, nor do I consider myself to be, in any fashion, a professional. I am constantly uncomfortable with role I feel forced into by being a member of the group. Inasmuch as I comment on photos presented, my comments are meant to simply reflect the emotional reaction I get from the viewing, not the aesthetics, which I view as the art of any photo. Viewing and reading the comments of others in the group helps immensely in educating me on what is a good photo, not what is a bad photo. I have learned much since joining, and truly appreciate the courage and techniques many of my fellows in this group operate with, so please continue to stretch my experience and appreciation for the various genre of this form of art.. 83 Nov 23 Comment Thank you all for your comments. This may be my favorite capture of the year for me. I also liked the color version nearly as much. Nov 26th
83 Nov 23 Comment Margaret-An intriguing photo. Is the figure spewing water a real person riding high on twin water jets coming from the hose, or a statue appearing to do the same thing? This is, at least in this case, the wonder of photography. It can document reality or it can tickle your fantasies. They all appear to be heavily engaged in the moment as is evident by your capture of the varying states of posture of each child. A nice street photograph of children enjoying a delightful moment of festivity. Nov 26th
83 Nov 23 Comment Lance-This photo almost immediately made me think of a scene in a movie that I saw decades ago of a "lost world." What appears to me to be the leading edge of a down-sloping plateau several inches from the top of the photo (because of the sharpness in clarity), looks to be a drop-off to a forbidden valley as evidenced by the loss of focus in the vine as it decends. You can tell just by my imagined description the effect this photo has on my imagination. It really is an intriguing photo that stimulated, at least, my imagination.

Not sure I did a very good job of explaining what my imagination conjured up in this photo, but I do like what it has done for me. Interesting exposure!

83 Nov 23 Comment Don-My favorite photo of the month. I like everything about this photo; the tone, the contrast, the subject matter. The only question that my studying of the photo brought to mind was a question of what the photo would have looked like had you moved the building to the right in the photo to expose the apparent rising landscape on the left. Very nice shot! Nov 26th
83 Nov 23 Comment Adi-Not much to dislike about this photo. Interesting to me that you describe it as, "a futuristic scene from a sci-fiction movie," which is in complete contrast to the impression that I got from the photo. Perhaps that is because, in this country, rail has not evolved all that much in the last 70 years compared to the rest of the rail world. I would have expected that, had I been shooting this scene in the late 1950s, it would have looked similar.

In this case, I like the relatively high contrast that reinforces my feeling of an aged landscape, and wonder what it might look like with a bit more graininess to give a more aged look. It seems to me to be a great photo documenting the network and plethora of passenger rail services that once was available to the public. But of course, it is what is available today, but demonstrates our lack of progress in this transportation resource.

83 Nov 23 Comment Michael-Interesting to look at, but, as long as I have looked (more like stared) at it, it doesn't move me one way or another. More than anything it makes me wish I could have seen the whole, and perhaps that is the value in the photo that I miss in my evaluation. I do like the left pane's hand prints, they seem to tell a story all on their own. Nov 26th
83 Nov 23 Comment Debasish-Great shot! I have several of my own that I particularly like, because they are not perfect reflections of the image being reflected, but because they feed the imagination of what might be. I think I like this photo as shot as opposed to the more contrasty version.

We live in an imperfect world on so many levels, so to try for the perfect reflection is, really, (although I have attempted it many times on my own) an exercise in futility, and much less interesting. Thanks for a photo that makes on think about reality is in this case.
