Michael,
You're right, some of the white is totally blown out. I have no idea how to fix that since the photo was taken with a new blanket of snow that was as white as white can be near the shores of Lake Superior. My recollection is that it was an overcast day and most things were either white or black with an occasional evergreen in view.
Thanks for the comments. |

Lance,
I can easily imagine a beautiful morning, slightly cooler than usual with a light fog coming off of the warmer-than-air water and the warmth of the sun on the my skin, giving the whole scene a feeling of wonder and beauty that I would want to capture in the moment. In this case, however, for me, a B&W just doesn't translate that to me very well. I have tried to capture scenes like this myself, and have been disappointed in the results (certainly not comparing my level of expertise, however, to yours). As I have said before in comments on other photos, I am sure it is a deficit in my ability to appreciate the full measure of a photo such as this: probably too much left-brain on my part. |

Debashish,
Whoever doesn't like mountains and glaciers, doesn't like the glory in their grandeur and the power in the sculptures that they co-create. The only comment I would have that might enhance the photo is similar to what Michael suggested, take another look at the sky and perhaps lighten it slightly to give it some life. I think that would improve the mood and give more energy to the image. |

Don,
Nice photo! If I had to name this photo, I would have said, "Loneliness." As an old pilot I have an affinity to all things that fly. This photo makes me think of all the things that once flew, but no longer are able to do so (me included). You have done a very nice job bringing forth that emotion, and to me, that is one of the primary goals of being a photographer. She probably gave many hours of good service, and now she lays abandon and forgotten. Thanks for giving her one more moment of glory in such a wonderful photo. |

Very nice Michael! I love the velvety nature of the photo, it's as if I touched it, I would be able to feel the softness of the leaves. It is very relaxing just to look at it. I couldn't even begin to suggest anything that would make this photo more appealing. Thanks for sharing. |
