A funny thing happened on the way to the next photo. I looked at your photo in the mix with all the others, and for some reason that I cannot explain, it seems to view better at that size when in the mix. Perhaps you can explain why. |

Mike,
I too love night photography. Unfortunately, I frequently run into scenes I like, but forget a tripod.
As to what did I drink? My recollection is that it was my usual, a single malt whisky. |

Lance,
Thanks for the comments. Of all the shots I made that night, this one was really the only one that I was pleased with. The rest were either too blurred or just lousy in all aspects. Sometimes I get lucky. |

Debasish,
Thank you for your comments. Yes, the lights were quite bright, any suggestion how to combat the glare at night should I run into a similar situation in the future? |

Lance,
I have a really hard time with this photo. The white part of the image just above the rod and reel don't bother me that much, because they are quite clearly delineated within the photo. I guess what bothers me the most is the failure to include the back of the child on the right, and then a little more of the child on the left just to the elbow. Isn't it fun to be heard from the Monday morning QB, especially since I have no idea about what the available scene provided.
I think the potential for a really good photo was there, it just didn't give me enough information to (whatever that means) really get into the scene. |

Adi, thanks for the comments. I too worried about the "crispness", but for handheld at night, I thought it was pretty decent. |

Thank you for your comments Margaret. It is one of my favorite night shots from China. I have a tendency to like the colored one more in this case. |

Very cute, intelligent looking dog. I'd be proud to put this photo anywhere in the house. If this was an experiment on your part, you certainly have succeeded. While the whole photo is very nice, you've really captured the facial features nicely. Watch out, you may have pet lovers asking you to photograph their hairy family members. |

I agree with Ali, "the depth of field is phenomenal. In fact it is so clear that if not photo stacked, it looks like it has been. Nice shot! |

Very nice shot of a behavioral technique that, as a retired educator, I hope has disappeared from the educational landscape. It certainly has a historical value. I wondered what effect a sepia tone would have in terms of adding a bit of age to the photo and its value as a bygone educational technique so I gave it a shot. |

I love the way the birch stand out in the foreground. If I were to label this photo it would be, "Aliens of the Forest." I immediately wondered how far back into the woods ship landed.
I also love the color version. The red floor of leaves very much reminds me of Red Oaks woods in Wisconsin. Nicely done in both versions. |

I really like the near perpendicular relationship between the vertical lines of the rain drops and the horizontal line formed by the branch, and the contrast between the blurred lines of the rain and the absolutely crystal clearness of the branch is spectacular. Very nice photo. |
