The ancient Bristlecones have beautiful twisted details in their trunks and branches. You found a good one, but the image could use some contrast. It would help to bring out those details. I really like the composition. The companion trees might actually be tilted? |

Jim - The Big Sur region is one of my favorite places in California. I'll be there the first week of December.
I love ocean shots and you caught a good one here. However, I see it as a nature shot, so removed the fence stuff on the rock (Gen. Fill). I flipped the image and think it's better balanced with the white water at the bottom left pulling your eye in rather than at the bottom right pulling your eye out. Great detail - can even see the birds on the rock. Just my two cents' worth! |

Beautiful story of a hard life with the weathered hands and face. Yes, in an ideal situation, seeing more of her face would have been better. The image does look better with the white piece removed. |

Peter, You did an amazing job in transforming the perspective! The windows on the right pull my eye away from the main element. It's an intriguing image as I can't tell if I'm seeing through windows or looking at reflections! |

Thank you, Henry. I totally agree with you on Jim's 2nd rendering of my image. Judges often say to focus on the SUBJECT - often everything else is unnecessary. |

Thanks, Jim - I did play with the cropping and see now that I SHOULD have cropped as in your second example. It's a much stronger image that way. Thanks for your example! |

Peter - LOL - My hand is not THAT steady! Full disclosure - there was a rail that I rested the camera on. Yes, in my explanation I said that, "I couldn't decide if I should crop to feature that terraces alone." Your comments help (after the fact) make that decision! Thanks! |
