11 Dec 23 Comment Mormon Row is a fantastic area to photograph. At first look, I wasn't sure what that white streak was. The mist adds interest to the image. You've brought out great sharpness in the b/w conversion, especially in the mountains. The original looks soft - maybe it was hazy? In the original, I love the colors in the mountains and the sky just above. However, the conversion is a winner! Dec 23rd
11 Dec 23 Comment This is a nice composition of an old subject. Smoothing out the clouds might keep the focus more on the buildings. The white shutters on the middle building could be toned down. If you're going for "spooky" the image conveys that. If you're going for old, I'd consider lightening and applying some contrast to the middle building and left side. Dec 23rd
11 Dec 23 Comment What caught my eye is the strong geometric shapes. In addition, the lights contrasting with the darks bring the shapes out even more. I do like it better with the pavers removed. I didn't even see the person in the image at first. Overall, a very graphic feel. Dec 23rd
11 Dec 23 Comment Beautiful portrait! Converting it to Ambrotype gives the image a warm feminine feeling, although I like it either way. Nice job on separating the hair from the background. Maybe a bit more room on the right would give her some "breathing" room. Considering you were working from a jpg, it turned out well. Dec 19th
11 Dec 23 Comment I really liked the converted image, until I saw the original. Those verdigris doors are amazing! My only suggestion for the monochrome is adding some vignette to really make the monument POP! Dec 19th
11 Dec 23 Comment WOW! It looks like it's floating in the sky - spiraling to the cosmos. Nice texture in the stairs. Good job! Dec 19th
11 Dec 23 Reply Thanks, Christian. I do like the B/W better than color, also. Dec 19th
11 Dec 23 Comment Thank you Henry and Jim. I love clouds and lean toward dramatic editing. However, it's hard to know if I've gone overboard! Each month, I look forward to the sounding board of this group. Dec 12th

16 Dec 23 Comment These night shots are fun to do, but not very easy to capture well. It takes a lot of practice. But for your first try, it looks really good. To keep the light streaks as the focus, it's best to find a spot without too many obstructions such as on an overpass or bridge. I look forward to seeing more of these from you. Dec 23rd
16 Dec 23 Comment When I first saw your image, I thought it was a graphic! It has such clean sharp lines. The small amount of texture on the tower shows it's a photo. There's a wonderful contrast between the blue of the sky and white of the tower with a touch of yellow in front.

16 Dec 23 Comment Great capture. Your cropping removes the dead tips of two branches. The colors and sharpness in the top dragonfly are beautiful. I especially like the sharpness of the veins in the wings.
I have seen a pair flying while mating. Very strange sight.

16 Dec 23 Comment Compared to the original, the edited version has a beautiful, soft, serene look. Normally, eyes, nose and lips would be sharpened, but since she's looking down that probably won't work. That background is perfectly softened making the girl stand out. Good job! Dec 23rd
16 Dec 23 Comment I love the expression on his face - I can almost hear him making begging sounds. Nice job on the eyes - which are very important with animal shots. The highlight on his right leg could be toned down. A crop may work, but may take too much off the left arm. As for the background, you could try blurring it even more. You may be able to lighten it more to make the ape stand out even more. I think you have a great shot! Dec 19th
16 Dec 23 Comment What a fantastic flowing waterfall shot. Amazing that you caught this handheld and not with a tripod! You processed the waterfall beautifully. If you take out the blurry boy, you might want to remove the brown stuff at the right edge. Dec 19th
16 Dec 23 Reply Thanks for the very positive comments! Dec 19th
16 Dec 23 Reply Thank you for the positive comments. I hadn't thought to use Spotlight. Thanks for suggesting it. I like to use curves with the lasso tool to darken and lighten areas. It seems easier to control. Dec 19th
16 Dec 23 Reply Terry, I love your comment about my "electric squiggles!" I hadn't thought of them that way - but I do now. I was a bit concerned that I may have overdone the vignette. Thanks. Dec 19th
