I like the subject with all those circles. Getting close to something lets you really see it. I like what Michael has done to it. However, I've been taught that bright/light lines at the edges of an image take your eye out and should be toned down. The very dark background keeps your attention on the beautiful textures in the gears. |

I wonder if using a lighter midtone would lighten much of the greys and give more depth to the statue. The color version looks very clean. Good conversion. |

Peter - I do like the airy feel of the image. I agree that the gradient is too dark. My intention was to have a very subtle conversion from slight darkening at the edge to light at the end. I feel that guides the eye. Unfortunately, I'm not proficient with gradients and had issues doing this - thus the overdarkening.😟 |

BIG difference! Thanks for sharing your method since it appears to work better than what I did! I'm anxious to try it. |

Oh, no! Your eagle eye caught it! I worked very hard at eliminating any halo-ing, but that one straight stretch below the tree would not go away. Suggestions??? |

Thanks for your comments and suggestion. Just before submitting the image, I thought the same. But when I lightened the cliff it seemed to fight for attention with the clouds. I could be wrong! |

This is a very nice image. I assume the textures on the sides and charcoal ashes inside are what caught your eye. They're really great. Henry's version brought that out even more. It would have been nice to have the entire right side in the image, but Henry addressed this by cropping on the left. |

Very nice image. I really like the vanishing perspective. I used a circular gradient to gradually darken the edges to light at the end of the station. Having a person or something else of interest at the far end of the station might give the eye a place to stop. The gradient might be too heavy-handed, but it's just a suggestion. |

There are 50 different ways to edit a photo, and one is not necessarily better than another. The first thing that struck me was the detail in this image! It's very fine without being crunchy. It reminds me of Jodie Hulden's photography. I would remove the small bits of branches between the roof and sky on the left, darken the foreground and create a subtle vignette to bring more attention to the building. I like it in sepia as it gives the feel of something old. |

I like the extra texture/sharpness that Jim brought out. I wonder if the clouds could be softened to reduce the contrast in them. A great subject. At first, it looked like the feet of an alien creature! |

I like this image. You saw something that caught your eye and snapped it. This image might look fine as a B/W, but I like it as is as it has a vintage look to it. Maybe a light touch of vignetting? |

I really like the backward Z lines that eventually take your eye to the building. A little more contrast and/or brightness might enhance the image. Also, did you consider cropping the sky as it doesn't add to the interest of the image.
It's a treat to see images from your country. |

OK, I'll try cropping a bit from the foreground and adding a touch to the sky. Judges here don't like much empty sky. Thanks for info about reflection at 50%, I didn't know that. Yes, I could ratchet back on saturation. Thank you! |

Very good capture. Really good details. I was surprised to read that it is a model. Unfortunately, the only way to show motion of a plane is to blur propellers, or show jets with smoke (chemicals?) coming out of the back (Blue Angels). For fun, you might try radial motion blur on the propellers. |

The composition is good. I really like how the wake from the boat leads your eye to the splashes the skiers are making. The original seems brighter than the finished image, otherwise, a very nice image. |

A very nice "Fall is Here" image. I agree with what Terry has done. It brings out the yellow leaves and gives us a focus. |

Beautiful story-telling image. Love the composition. Is that fog or steam behind the women? The color and details are done just right. I did play with it just a touch. Using Camera Raw, I lightened up the woman on the left, removed the bright orange spots on neck and hand, added a light vignette and darkened the basket in the bottom corner and a bit on the basket above.
The image is beautiful as is! |
