36 Apr 23 Reply Third edit. Added more white to the mountain and worked the shadows by dropping the black. Then fine tuned the histogram curve. All while keeping a range of grey. I'm still using LRc as I need to learn more about how to use photoshop. Apr 19th
36 Apr 23 Reply My third edit. Added more white and worked the shadows. Still have a range of gray. Thank you! I'll check out Arnie's images and look up Ansel's zones. Work in progress :) Apr 19th

36 Apr 23 Reply I took into account yours and others recommendations. I cropped down from the top and up from the bottom. I darkened the sky and foreground. I also darkened the wind mill on the lower right and cloned out the tops of some trees left after cropping. Then I increased contrast on the mountain by lowering shadows and increasing clarity. I am not yet proficient with photoshop so I used Lightroom Classic. It's a 16x9 crop so you will have to move it side to side to see the whole image when you open it here. Apr 18th
36 Apr 23 Reply Yes, thank you! Apr 18th
36 Apr 23 Reply Thank you so much for your thoughts. Anyone who is familiar with Mt Hood knows it often has some clouds at the top. In fact it is common knowledge that if the top of Mt Hood is covered with a cloud (Lenticular cloud also called Cap Cloud) then we are to expect rain. So I would never remove the clouds/clouds. I will try the edits suggested. Apr 18th
36 Apr 23 Reply Thank you for you feedback. Yes, it seems I often get conflicting reviews. …in the eye of the beholder I guess. I do strive for pleasing composition, lighting, and subject with my shots and try very hard to emphasize these in my edits (I always shoot RAW). You are right I probably would have needed a ladder. And I love Ansel Adams! I didn't try raising the camera above my head and using the swing out/tilt LCD screen… might have worked. The pole on the bottom right is a wind mill. They are throughout the orchard and common to see in this area. Since this is Mt Hood Above Orchard I thought it helped the story. But I can try decreasing the white on it. Apr 18th

36 Apr 23 Reply Thank you Larry for your feedback. I feel like sometimes I get B&W editing right and sometimes I don't :( I am trying to understand the contrast. I have been working on this with other images… still trying. I've been told the whites and blacks must still have detail. So I guess there is a fine line between the right amount of contrast and keeping detail. I will look at the crop. I have cropped this image in closer before but wanted to try this one with more foreground. I do understand what you say about clutter in the middle and I guess the light foreground can add to that distraction. As far as shooting from a higher angle so the center is less cluttered … I still struggle with remembering to move my feet and try different vantage points and compositions. I have gotten better but I don't always see the options when I'm shooting. Its like I have blinders on lol. Will keep working on this. Apr 18th
36 Apr 23 Reply Diane FerdigThank you for your input. The black in the lower left corner is from a shadow. I don't remember from what. I did try to lighten it. I will look at it again. Apr 18th
36 Apr 23 Reply Thank you! I have seen it in LRc and I will look at Mark Denny. Apr 13th
36 Apr 23 Reply Thank you for your advice. I will see what dropping the blue slider does. And no problem about last month, we all get busy:) Apr 9th
36 Apr 23 Reply Thank you for your editing advice. I will try out your recommendations. But I wouldn't want to clone out the cloud at the top as this is the iconic look of Mt Hood. It's expected to see a cloud at top often covering the top of the mountain. Apr 9th
36 Apr 23 Reply Thank you for that detailed explanation. It makes sense! Sometimes I still struggled with composition so this helps. Apr 8th
36 Apr 23 Comment Very nice reflection and symmetry. Great job with stitching. Something I have yet to try. It's always nice when Mother Nature presents you with perfect conditions. Apr 8th
36 Apr 23 Comment I love the light and how it illuminates the fog. I've been wanting to find a scene with these two elements but lately SWWashington has been so gloomy and void of these two elements together. Why did you choose to have water in front of the grasses and not crop to the base of the grasses? Apr 8th
36 Apr 23 Comment Beautiful! I live in Washington, need to visit the Palouse. I'd crop up to get rid of the two hills at the bottom as they are the only thing that distracts my eye in this image. Maybe personal preference. Apr 8th
36 Apr 23 Comment Great monotone image. Love the leading lines and light bursts. I do get a feeling of loneliness looking at this. I wonder how this would look with red brake lights from cars so it's monotone with just the red lights? A different image because this one is great as is. Just a thought. Apr 8th
36 Apr 23 Comment Nice long exposure. The light bursts are nice and sharp. I'm not sure how I feel about the "ghosts". At first I thought they were a distraction but the more I look at it the less they bother me. I wonder if they'd disappear completely with a longer exposure? Apr 8th
