I have a Canon R6. Apparently it has a built in intervalometer. |

Thank you for your reply. I have photoshop. Will need to learn it. I'll check out the other program you mentioned as well as the intervalometer. I too have a Canon and it sounds pretty cool. |

This one even looks sharper on my end. I wonder how I can upload to this forum with images that look correct??? |

Thank your for your feedback. To be honest I can't even remember where I placed the focus point in my camera. I think I remember it is supposed to be 1/3 of the way in the shot for hyper focal focus? I tend to not like tripods but I understand I will probably need to use them more in my quest for an great shot that is sharp and has that wow factor I'm looking for. My husband bought me one. It is not carbon fiber but it isn't horribly heavy. I will try to use it more and will have to save up for a carbon fiber one someday. I love editing and continue to work on improving my skills. Yes your are right I did push the editing including the saturation to try and get that wow factor. The focal point (subject) should be the island. I do see how it is not standing out. Should I have placed my focus point on the island? I would have used spot AF. But the island is about halfway in the scene, not 1/3 for hyper focal focus. I'm still a bit confused on this. As my camera shows me infinity…confusing me. Here is another photo I took about an hour later with the settings 1/80, f18 iso 100. So same as the photo above but twice as fast shutter. Is it better? |

Thank you! I will try to remember auto iso… good idea. I actually just now bought Topaz AI, it was on sale. So excited to see what I can do. But I know I need to try and take the sharpest photos I can in the first place. I am particularly poor at this with BIF shots. |

Oh ok. I think I see what you mean. Although on my end it does look a bit sharper. At any rate…as you can see I have lots to learn. Next on my list making my images sharper. Lol. |

Wow, cool image. You're techniques make this photo look abstract. An interesting juxtaposition in a natural setting. I don't feel I can offer critique as this is above my level of photography. I plan to learn how to stack images for exposure and focus to take my photography to the next level. What editing software did you use for the stacking? And what is an intervalometer? Thank you. |

Thank you for your critique. I love landscapes that have that high dynamic look. So I was really pushing the editing to try to get it. I want to learn how to do focus and exposure bracketing for this reason. I know how to shoot for these things on my camera but haven't had the editing capability. I have done all my editing on my iPad. I just purchased a Mac LR/PS cloud package. So once I can get all my photos moved over from LR on my iPad to my Mac (it's a huge ongoing issue, I'm working on with Adobe customer svs, account issues), I will have to learn LR desktop and Photoshop so I can do the edits I want with the exp and focus bracketing. I agree it looks soft, not sharp. May be due to the factors I listed in my reply to Arne. Normally I can shoot 1/40 fine, see attached photo. This one is 1/40 f14 iso640. I have heard about Topaz AI. I will have to get it for my Mac. As far as my hyperfocal point… I really don't remember if I placed that correctly. I will need to work on being more cognizant of that. |

Thank you for your critique. I was trying to get the blue that I remembered, as it is a very blue lake with the glacial flour. But my husband, my other set of eyes lol, agrees it is a little too blue. I think I need to turn down the saturation a little on the whole photo. I was really pushing for that HDR look but fell short.
That's why I was thinking this photo could have benefited from exposure or focus bracketing. I can usually get pretty sharp photos with 1/40 ss with my camera with it's stabilizing system. There were other factors such as feeling rushed as there was a line of people behind me waiting to see this view, I was balancing on a rock and my husband was behind me joking around taking a picture of me taking a picture (a theme he had throughout the entire day lol) so maybe I wasn't as still as I should have been. I'm not sure why I settled on 1/40 though. This was taken back in August. Thank you for the 2 sec timer timer trick while hand held. I use it with my tripod. I'll have to try it handheld. |

Love the fine art painterly effect. Well done with your editing. You have created a soft mystical scene that still has a boldness that immediately caught my eye. The wow factor. I agree to crop the left so the turret is along the left 1/3rd line. I feel the turret would balance nicely with the tree on the right then. If there was a tree on the left then, to me it seems balanced to leave it in the middle. But, I think cropping would be easier than planting a tree ;) |

There is a lot of texture and miscellaneous shapes for sure! It makes for an interesting abstract that is really a landscape, if that makes sense. I see the
s curve ravine which does make a good leading line. For me though the smaller rocks at the bottom distract a bit. I would try a crop up from the bottom to crop these small rocks out so the photo moves from big and simple to smaller and more details as you go from bottom to top. |

I like how you captured that ominous sky with the storm moving in. Your editing is very effective to bring out the colors on this stormy day but the highlights on the lake are just a touch bright for my eye. The composition seems well balanced. Your position from which you shot feels right to me as my eye flows well from the bottom left to top then back around along the tree line. |

I can feel the cold and wet in this photo. Your edits bring out the colors nicely, especially in the mountains. I like the original for the crop as for me the composition feels a bit off with the boat so low. |
