Adrian, that sounds like a great opportunity. I'll be in Bologna in September so unfortunately I'll miss the show. However, i'd love to check out the exhibit space, would you share the gallery name or address. mark |

Michael, I agree its a great image and a lot better in monochrome. But, I'm going to take a different approach. The distortion of the building on the left is a bit distracting, so instead of processing them separately, I'm going to suggest cropping it or the other building out completely and working the composition from there. While it's nice to show the relationship of the two buildings, I think either one could stand on it's own and simplify the image possibly making it stronger. Just a thought. But, it is a great image regardless. Mark |

Again, it's a great image and I really feel that the monochrome version is the best. It has a lot more drama and no color to compete with the compositions. I like the way you opened up the shadows giving more detail on the lower level of the building and enhanced the sky. overall very well done. However, I also agree that straightening the pole is a good idea. Personally, if there are straight lines in an image, I need at least one to be aligned with the side of the image. Otherwise it becomes one of those small things that distracts from the image. |

Adrian, I'm with Pete on this. By cropping out all of the building, you loose reference points that I think are important to the composition and leave the viewer to wander between the gull and the tree. by keeping the wall and part of the house roofline, the composition traps the viewer and makes use of the negative space of the sky, wall and building to direct the viewer into the scene and land on the area with the bird and tree. |

Emil, I love both flowers and sunflowers. At first glance, the color version jumps out and takes center stage. I think the suggestions to brighten the petals in the foreground greatly enhance the image and really pull my eye into the image. But I too like the alternate angle. Mark

Mandy, I agree with everyone. Like Wow. What caught my eye first was how well focused the two swimmers are. With all of the distractions around them, water drops etc. it's remarkable that they are so crisp. I know that newer cameras help but you still have to be able to take advantage of the tech to make an image like this work this well. Mark

Love the detail and the highlights really do a great job of enhancing the detail. I'm sure I wouldn't have had the patience in studio nor post to make this image work the way you have. |
