Israel, this is a spectacular image and better in monochrome for sure. I think the Imam's face is a bit flat and as such falls back into the subject. I'd like to try to create more contrast and detail in the face to give it a bit more emphasis. |

bob, I love the detail and texture. From a compositional standpoint my eye keeps looking for something to balance out the subject. Possibly more space to the upper right. But then, I wouldn't know if that was good without seeing it. Mark

I'm a fan of highlighting the ferns but would like a bit more detail in the trees. There seems to be a conflict between the ferns and the dark space above that is a bit distracting. mark

Wow, Your mixing and matching really creates tension and throws the viewer into an odd space. Love it but not sure I'd have even come close to coming up with the idea. |

It is a great image and cudo's for doing it with film. I tend to agree with Oliver, my first impulse was that some mild burning and dodging in LR or PS would enhance the image and emphasize the path to further pull the viewer into the scene. I wont' be able to play with it but would consider more extreme adjustments just to see if it gave it more impact. But as always your image, your vision. Thank you for sharing. Mark |

I love the drama you've created in post processing and totally understand the impulse to stop the car and jump out. Oh, wait, I think Ansel Adams did that a few times too. Great minds think alike. Normally, I'm not attracted to images that are this centered but the subject and drama you created kept me focused and overall like the image. Mark |

Israel, this was my first time in Japan and it was quite an experience. I'd do it again but am headed to Europe first. Take care and please keep us informed by photo of the world around you. Mark |

It was a series I shot in one short walk up the alley with a local photographer. Would love to do it again and build the portfolio needed to create a series on back street dining. Thank you. |

Bunny, The glare is definitely a distraction and you've done a great job adjusting for it. However, I'm not sure what you meant by "frequency separation 2.0 (Earth Oliver's technique)." Is it a book? or article? Let me know and i'll check it out. Thanks. |

I agree, giving the chef and diner a bit more definition by reducing the glare greatly enhances the image. Thank you for taking time to do the editing. Mark |

Good point re grain. I did run it though Topaz photo ai but may resist using that version to retain the feel you mention.
Have a great weekend. Mark
