The egret certainly stands out from the background; pure white against the dark background. Good composition with the subject perched on the branch and the evidence of trees behind the bird. The sharp eye, head and wispy tail feathers are an attraction. |

I like your view overlooking the docked boats. And the Iphone has produced good focus, clarity and sharpness. The color of the green water is particularly good against the blue boat. Nice composition with the boats at differing positions not being all lined up in a row. |

Interesting type of abstract that piques the imagination. Shadows....certainly, a questionable elongated leaf or seed pod upon snow. What else? |

Sepia vs. gray scale? My opinion, in this case, is color. The reddish rocks against the blue sky is my preference. Especially with the bit of white clouds in the background. Technical qualities are right on. (Memories of a trip with Road Scholar.....years ago.) |

Beautiful image! Everything is working well together, the snow placement against rocky shoreline, the cloudy sky, and the similarity of all the colors. Great composition with a leading line taking the viewer to the lighthouse surrounded by bare trees. Absolutely a great winter photograph! |

Hi Audrey, Just a visit... from your former camera club member. I like the addition of the lamp in the left side of the frame, it adds interest. Missing the Magnolia tree? They are beautiful in blossom. You and the iPhone have produced a very appealing photograph. |

Murphy, you are very observant. You have given me too much credit for something I did not intentionally do. Probably would have changed the order of bells to match each side of the arrangement if aware of the "interest". But....food for thought. |

Thanks for your input, Charles, always welcome. My concern generally is about the separation between background and surface the arrangement is sitting on. I do not care for an abrupt line so try to remove it sometimes unsuccessfully. If using a large enough sheet of paper and rolling it the background and surface would be continuous.
I do like the modification you have made with the background being darker and as you said there is more depth to the image. |

Hi Murphy, Your image is appealing to me composition-ally with the two prominent full leaves toward the bottom of the frame, and the partial leaves at the top. Lovely green color against the black background. Very nice! |

Hi Charles, Glory Pea.....a new term for me. Will have to look it up. Ornamental or edible? You did a fine job of cleaning the background. Very attractive with pink blooms/pods against the improved background. |

Hello Alane, Interesting subject with it's reflection. You have perfect focus on the eggbeater and a good composition. Fun to look at the "old fashioned" kitchen items. |

Hello Neal, The colors in this image are very striking. I like the mottled background that picks up the colors in the subject. The blurry stem along the left side of the frame is also a contributing factor of the appeal for me. Technical elements are as they should be. And the inner stroke color is matched perfectly to the stems in the frame. Great! |

Hi Richard, Excellent portrait! The composition is uncommon and that is one of the features that makes this image so appealing. There is texture in the feathers and the eye is nicely visible. A great image. Any contests coming up? |

Hi Barbara,
Good composition with the flower just off center and space on top and bottom. Nice thin white stroke as a finishing detail. I do agree with your response to Murphy regarding the white flower in direct sunlight. Direct sunlight in most cases is too harsh in my opinion. Plus white can be problematic. Focus is excellent as well as the background! |
