Very nice panorama. I, too, like the people along the sides. I might consider removing the brown spot along the lower right edge. Someones hair (head?) Little nitpick. Fine focus, everything is sharp from front to back. I have a Canon Powershot SX79, Does a nice job for a little camera and is light weight. For mature me. |

The composition in this image is excellent. I like the position of the waterlily, tall and rather imposing above the leaves. The leaves are of interest especially the several * ed ones (lighting) and the flooding atop the largest leaf.
De-saturate the red lily?

I like what you did in post processing. The image now looks inviting rather that cold and of little interest. The repetition of light on the pavement is a bonus. Very nice. |

Nice job....I wouldn't have recognized the subject as a bat. You brightened up his sleeping quarters nicely. And removed all the distractions. |

I agree with the others that some work does need to be done with the foot area. It was a good idea to convert it to B&W. I tried a couple of options but as suggested it may look fine with the foot just floating. |

Your image is lovely. I tend to agree with David and John. For me a crop along the top would make it perfect. I like the thin border you have used. It pulls everything together. |

WOW....Bright and cheery. I like the position of the stem. Good composition. The focus is sharp and the lighting is also very nice. Good work! |

Hi Richard, Nicely done even though you did not choose the shutter speed you normally would have for a stationary subject. The white of the petals is good and they show texture and some detail so bee happy with the image. Nicely composed and with good lighting. |

Hi Murphy, Very well done. I see an image that holds my interest. I like the composition with my eye being drawn to the upper right where the center of interest is located. All the color tones work together, focus is fine and lighting is superb. I would consider this an abstract photo but I missed by calling my image this month an abstract. |

Looks good! You accomplished great focus and magnification by using Helicon focus.I like the composition with the smaller groupings and the random spots of bright yellow against the grayish leaf. Not being familiar with either method, focus rail vs. Helicon focus what is your preference between the two? Ease of processing, time involved? All of your images always look good as far as sharpness and detail. Not to mention other factors of an exceptional image. |

Hi Barbara, Thanks for your comment and sending the link. I will not use this months image for the competition. I have another that will qualify. Post processing is allowed but not in the extreme. |

Hi Alane, Fine focus on the subject. The plain background color is complimentary to the rest of the elements in the image. I would like to see the image straightened as was suggested. |

Hi Barbara...I asked a similar question of the competition managers. Is an abstract strictly a photograph or can it be a photo that is manipulated in post processing? The answer was to look at the previous competition's Abstract category which I did. It did not look as though post processing was involved. One example was a Birch forest where the camera was moved vertically during the exposure, another was a field of flowers swaying in the wind, therefore out of focus. So I created my "abstract" by combining a previously taken photograph with other elements.
Per Barron's Pocket Dictionary:(said about a painting or sculpture)showing the artist's ideas or feelings. |
