Sharp and colorful with great detail. Image placed on a blue background? Looks good either way. The blue is complementary. |

Interesting, the different interpretations each person has regarding an abstract image. My first thought is, it's a bird with another critter hanging out of it's mouth. In the original image I see a sea creature with multiple tails. You have always been good at seeing more that what is there. I remember your tree portraits. |

I like the composition with the dahlia (?) placed in the corner of the frame. Not the everyday shot so gets the viewers attention to explore the image a little more. Sharp focus and a good background with a hint of green leaves. Nice! |

Very nice, Debbie. I like the soft, dreamy look of the image. No roses here in this area except at the florist. You broke the rule about centering the subject, good choice as it puts total emphasis on the rose. |

Nice shot....both versions but the fireworks has more "punch". You did excellent post processing work but you had a fine image to start with. At first look, I wasn't sure if I liked the Fort in the lower left corner. But after thinking about it, I think that sets this image apart from so many others just of the bridge. Good to go back in the files and find "keepers". |

Hi Neal, This plant looks semi-familiar but I can't come up with the name of it. I like the out of bounds stroke and how you have it hidden behind some of the leaves. I might suggest you use the clone tool on two of the leaves to remove the vertical stripe. Otherwise an appealing and sharp image. |

Hi Richard, I particularly like the lighting on this thistle. Some of the weeds and invasive plants are really attractive. I see good focus and composition with a nice black background.
I do agree with Murphy regarding adding a stroke around this image.

Thank you all for your positive comments. The people at the Wisconsin Garden and Landscape Expo considered it an abstract and they will include it with two of my other submissions in their online photographic exhibit. The judges scoring will be available as of February 22nd at Virtual Garden & Landscape Expo . |

Hi Barbara, You are making an impression, on me, with your backgrounds. They are always, as is this one, complimentary to your subjects. You have a good eye for color. I like the composition with the pine cone placed on a diagonal line. Perhaps a smaller aperture would have given sharpness to the entire cone. But.....maybe the graduated sharpness was your intention. Nice image, either way. |

Very Nice, Murphy
Love the colors and the clarity. This would probably qualify as an abstract image. You did a great job of removing all the background distractions. I really like the composition with the main subject being off center. That's a preference of mine. I particularly like the left side of the frame with the blue and gold. It's just so attractive to my eye. Wonderful!! |
