Good advice, Shaikh. The next time I am in a similar situation I will try using the polarizer with my DSLR camera. |

Hi to anyone who reads this response......When I looked at the photo I submitted this month I was totally in disbelief. When post processing a photo the maker should improve the photo not destroy it. I honestly don't know what happened. Sad....
Thanks, Debbie for your suggestions on working with the blown out sun. |

Hi David, I see a technically perfect photo. Color, focus, and composition are right on. The polarizer brought out the sky and clouds nicely. The red mill adds interest. If you were to do a photo essay this would make a great introductory image. You could follow with different parts of the mill, some close ups, fencing leading up to the mill, etc., etc. Good work. |

Great action shot. Powerful with the waves, splashing water and your daughter in the middle of it all. Her blue suit against the yellow board is lovely. I also like her eyes being closed. It adds to the drama. |

Hi Shaikh, My preference of the two photos is the color original. I do not think the stem in that photo is too long. I see a unique, unusually long stem which is interesting in itself. I also like the bit of leaf in the left side of the frame. The b&w version is good too, I just prefer the color, bright yellow with a touch of red against the black background. |

Hi Jesse, Good composition and color in this image. This viewer can almost hear the roar of the falls. I wonder if you tried any slow-shutter speed photos of the falls. They would also be impressive with the "milky" appearing water cascading over the rocks. |

Hi John, You did a good job with the background. I sometimes forget abut the Gaussian blur tool. Thanks for the reminder.
I like the brightness of the three sunflowers. The bees are an added element to this very nice image. |

Hi Barbara, Focus on your flowers and the bright red/orange make this an attractive photograph. (I've heard competition judges like the those colors.) I like your composition with the subject just off center. You have received some good advice regarding backgrounds. I do like your idea of using an umbrella as a way of making shade. |

Hi Lou, Great colors in your image this month. The blue/black of the wasp against the green background is very appealing. I also like the center of action in the center of the frame. Although sometimes not recommended, in this case it works well...impact. I do agree with the comments regarding the noise and focus as mentioned previously. |

Hi Lorna, I, too, like the color combination of the bright orange and purple flowers together. The main flower is certainly nice and sharp. I like Richard's crop as it removes the top flower and leaves several out of focus brightly colored flowers with a slight bit of purple accent. I have seen some flower photographers carry a piece of cardboard covered with muted colors and place it behind the subject to help block out busy backgrounds. Sometimes a two person endeavor. |

Murphy, I am in agreement with the idea of leaving the stems in the photograph. To me, without them the flowers seem to be floating in the air and need an anchor. Differing opinions make for good discussions. |

Hi Neal, This image really jumps out at the viewer. I like your title in addition to the image itself. I certainly admire the work and time you must apply to your photography. This image is really outstanding; all the colors come together so nicely upon the black background. The thin stroke framing the image is perfect. |

Hi Richard, You have presented a nicely unfurling fern with a bonus critter hanging on. Excellent focus on the critter and top of the fern. The soft lower part of the fern is not a distraction, to me. I like the diagonal composition and the out of focus background. Good color and lighting. Very nice image without much post processing. |

Hi Murphy, Very, very nice image. I, too, like dahlias; they are impressive and come in so many sizes and colors as you mentioned. I like the color combination in this image. Lighting is right on and the raindrops are a nice addition. Interesting composition with the larger of the two filling the top of the frame and the entire smaller dahlia along the left side. Personally, I like a black background as it gives an appearance of formality or dignity. The narrow stroke holds everything together nicely. |
