Hi Shaikh, I do like the delicacy of this image. Although the "bud" portion of the rose is soft, I think the outer petal compensates with it's lines of sharpness. Good work! |

Great little bird looking at you. I like the yellow color on the bird and the yellow of the background. Harmonious and creates a nice balance between background and subject. The blown-out feather in the rear area add to the composition. Nice! |

Just checked the website and saw Stephen Levitas' comment. I checked the link and in my opinion your photo is much better than what is on the website. |

Hi Debbie, Beautiful flower, taken under night time, conditions. I think the dark spot on the stem of the flower could be cloned out. Especially if the image was enlarged. I like it in the frame. It acts as an anchor for the flower. I do like the image of the moon in the frame but if you had not explained why it is there, I like Allen, feel it would add a question as to why it is there. Your work is always of interest. |

Hi Jesse, Glad to hear you feeling better. I like the image of the model and think you did well with an unplanned or "grab shot". She has a look of surprise. The background with it being on a slant is bothersome to me. If you did remove the power line, top black line of the fencing and the statues it would be of help. Hope you got some other good shots of the models. |

Hi John, Lovely composition of the old mill. Like the leading line taking the viewers eye to the doorway of the building. Nik's Detail Extractor does wonders. I just accept the three boards as being there and part of the scene.

Great photo!!! I see a strong leading line surrounded by steel angles. Black and white was certainly the way to go. It's impressive. Wide angle lens? You did very well with the sky. It's always a mystery why some photographs don't do well with judges. Submit a second time and look for different results. |

Good suggestion.....will keep working with textures. Something different to try out during "down time". |

Good color in the image with the complimentary background in keeping with the color of the bee. I like the composition and am amazed at the amount of pollen on the bee's body but then my macro work is not as tightly composed. I'm more of a "close up" photographer. I do enjoy looking at insects and nature in a true macro way. |

Hi Murphy, Good use of the reflector, it lights the front of the orchids well and creates little shadows on the leaves on the ground. I like your approach to shooting this image as it's not the "normal". I have found, when entering a competition, that is what judges look for; not the everyday common way of composition.
I see a nicely muted background with a grouping of well focused, colorful number of unusual flowers. |

Hi Barbara......Welcome to Group 63. Your first post is lovely. I like the composition with the flower presented on an angle but not directly from the corner of the frame. I also like how the blossom rests on the green leaf. I see good color, lighting and focus. Good work! |

Hi Barbara, Thanks for your helpful comment. With the Covid-19 restrictions I find it to be a good time to search out new options for photography. I have been in touch with Meredith Images at www.MeredithImages.com If you are on Facebook check out a group that is related to her. "Textures: Turn HO-Hum into a Work of Art". The group is devoted to textures; the images you will see are absolutely super. |

Hi Lou, Interesting subject with intense, eye catching colors. In closely looking at the image I could see another image within your image. I hope you do not mind but I "played" with what I saw and made a copy for you. This is not my normal way of making a comment but your image had so much to offer in the way of sharpness, color, interest and detail that I wanted to share what I saw.
I see a creature from another planet with large ears, a nose plus eyes, moustache of yellow and green, a pair of smiling lips, a little goatee, above rather than below, the chin with a few whiskers. |

Hi Lorna, Welcome to Group 63.
Lucky lady being close to Butchard Gardens. I have been there one time and enjoyed it immensely. Your photo is well done and I like the fact that you made the stamens the subject of the image. They are well supported by the out of focus petals. The soft green background compliments the pink and yellow of the lily. As for the blue spot of color, I agree with your thoughts of cloning it out. Nice work! |

Hi Neal, You asked about the antenna shadow on the subject's face, if it were my photo I would remove it but leave the other shadow on the body. I like the lighting and the black background. Also the thin border sets the image apart from the background of the web page. As far as the composition goes, I don't think it is out of place. When grasshoppers land on a plant or other surface they sometimes are in that position.
