The focus on the Bittern is very sharp; a nice open eye. His body and head have interesting color patterns with an unusual colored beak which picks up some of the tones in the foliage. As you indicated Bittern's are very secretive. This is a good example of that. I'm wondering if you could crop part of his body for more of a head shot and blur out some of the greenery on the right side of the frame. The subject is in good focus but there is distraction in the surroundings. |

Great subject with appealing color against the dark background. I agree you chose a good subject for your first attempt at a triptych. I am undecided as to whether the center of the flower should be centered in the middle frame of the triptych. Usually I prefer asymmetry, if given a choice, but in this case I think I would go with centering. I'll be interested in hearing the comments from the rest of the group. Kudos for trying something new! |

The Gaussian Blur filter worked very well. A great improvement in the background. Your selection method was perfect especially on the fine antenna. The subject is in good focus, has good lighting and a pleasing composition. I like the diagonal line of the butterfly and flower traveling across the frame. |

Gordon is very good looking. What a great idea to convert to b&w but leave his eyes yellow. Very attention getting! The background color is perfect. Focus is sharp. You've done a great job! |

Foggy day? With nice reflections. Seems like a nice serene place to be. I like the leafless deciduous tree just off center; good composition. The entire image has good focus. I particularly like the lower quarter of the frame because the reflections is rather mottled and it piques my interest. Reminds me of an impressionist painting. |

Hi John, You and I have had the same goal of getting the perfect shot of a red barn with hay bales. You have certainly come closer to meeting that goal than I. Seems a simple task but...... I can appreciate the work you have put into this shot. It's really quite good, with an interesting sky, good color thorough out and fine focus. I do see a bit of sloping down to the right side of the frame. A minor adjustment and easily corrected. |

Hi Patrick, Nice image with good color and focus. I like your idea of filling the frame with the flower. The just off center composition is well done. Looking forward to seeing more of your florals. Welcome to the group! |

Great color with overall sharpness. The peeling bark against the smoothness of the wonderfully blended background is just eye catching. I love how the bark has formed an interesting composition; there is much to enjoy. I see softness in the "looped" patterns and brittleness in the vertical formations. I also like your composition, it flows downward from the upper left corner of the frame. Excellent! |

Excellent focus on the dragonfly which is placed against a complementary background. |

Hi Lisa, Old or classic cars are fun to photograph. Particularly the small parts in the overall design. The surrounding area of the handle is interesting. I like the pitted surface of the handle itself. I'm thinking you may have flipped the photo. The chrome against the green is pleasing. |

Hi Karen, I really like the colors and the lighting in this image. As time goes on I appreciate abstract type work more and more. To me, your image fits the category. I like it! |

Hi Charles, Both images, Original 1 or the large flood image are improvements over Original 2. I think Original 1 is more dramatic with the dark background. I do like the effect of the flood filter particularly the orange reflection under the flower itself. The dew drop is a bonus for all. As Murphy mentioned the upper right corner of the large image needs a little blending. I'm having a difficult time selecting my favorite of the two. |
