This is a challenging subject and setup, nice that you got some good images on the 2nd try. I've done it before on Dano's property and had similar results.
I'm impressed with how well the AI did in reconstructing the missing wing. I wouldn't have expected such a good result, so I'm glad to see that. Maybe I should be keeping some of those shots with clipped bits from now on!
This is a great pose captured with both wings outstretched and the mouth open ready to scoop the water. The teeth really catch my attention. Nice work on the processing as well to bring out details and color. |

I love stories of camouflage. So many creatures depend on it. I like the way it makes you work a little bit in viewing the image- just like you have to work to see the subject in the field.
A classic pose for a Bittern, I love the way their eyes appear on the sides of the head in this pose. I like that you've managed an angle where the head and neck are not obscured. I also like the amount of space around the bird, or rather the amount of the reeds you've included, which is important for the story.

What an interesting phenomena to capture. I like the way you used the trees in the composition. Have you tried flipping the image so that the spout is on the right?
I also like your choice to go monochrome with this, to me it emphasizes the shapes better than the color version.
The slow shutter speed did give you some interesting effects in the dust itself. I wonder how much the shape of it would be changed with a faster shutter speed.
Great that you were able to capture this! |

Hi Jenny,
You caught a nice moment with the wing flap! That fog adds to the story. I'd also suggest a bit of a crop, although it might be challenging to keep enough of the fog to tell that story when doing so. I do like the placement of the bird in the frame and that it is facing to the left. |

Maria, I like the setting in which you captured the Robin. So often they are seen and photographed on the ground. The diagonal branch is nice for the composition. I like adrian's suggestion of the crop, although I do also like it as shown.
The Robin really stands out against that background, well done. |

Classic, indeed. Love the stare straight at you. I also like that the stick has a fork in it- adds a bit of interest. I do like the brighter whites in Maria's version. |

Hi Jerry, this is a European Starling. You really captured the beautiful iridescence of this bird! That soft light served you well. I like your crop, a pleasing amount of space for the bird. Nice job with the processing as well to brighten it up and let those colors shine. |

Bruce, wonderfully sharp image with good detail in the bird. The light was quite nice. The water color complements the bird color well. I'm surprised at how much pink hue there is, not something I notice on the GBH's around here.
I might like to have a little more room in front of the bird so it has "room to move in to", but that's more of a preference.
There's a sensor dust-spot along the bottom, in the middle of the frame.
Very pretty image. |

Adrian, wonderful pose on the Osprey and good head position. Often they are looking around and you don't end up with good eye contact on shots like this, so I really appreciate what you were able to catch. Nice job with the crop and the post-processing bringing out the detail in those outstretched wings.
Very appealing image. |

Hi Bruce,
I like what you did with the increased contrast, will give that a try. I cropped the way I did because I wanted to leave the tail tips visible below the branch. Perhaps because so little of them is visible that's not as important as I was thinking. |
