Thanks Michael. I debated where to crop the right- I wanted enough space for the chick to "move in to" but it could be less. I cropped the reflection where I did because of a bright branch, but will look at that all again. |

What an opportunity to photograph this from above! Being more at their eye level gives an intimate view we don't typically get in a nest situation.
I love the light on the wings, they just glow against the dark background. Capturing that at the same time as the other bird is vocalizing was a nice moment to capture.
I too wish for more nest below, both in terms of helping the story as well as a better base for them to stand on (so to speak). |

Very nice Butch, a great pose captured with both wings visible and the neck outstretched toward the stamen. I like the bloom in the corner, makes a pleasing composition. good job with the flashes too, having a bit of shadow on the bat gives it some dimension.
Just one suggestion for presentation here - or for projected competitions- would be to add a thin stroke/border around the image. I've no idea where the left and top edge of the frame is as it blends in to the background. I presume it's square but can't tell. |

This is a pretty cool idea and vision- it does show the power of the bird's take-off stroke and the intensity of its focus. The shutter speed gives a nice blur that distinctly shows the direction of the flap.
I've captured some poses similar to this with big waders but have never thought to try the motion blur- a new idea to work on! |

Michael this is lovely! The bright yellow bird pops off the smooth green background. I like the pose of the bird, very perky and showing off the snack so well. I also like the diagonal of the perch and the "anchor" of the larger limb on the left edge.
You did a nice job processing it, yes it really is incredible what we can do at high iso these days. I just note a bit of a lack of feather detail in the head. that might be worth working on a bit more if there's detail in the original. sometimes noise reduction smears out details.

The rainy day certainly gave you a nice opportunity with this bird. Having the wings outstretched drying lets us see all that interesting pattern, as well as creating a good shape. The soft light is perfect to see all the detail.
In the background field, there's enough detail that I get a sense of layers in the grasses receding in the distance. For that reason, I like the crop as is- it gives a sense of habitat and place, not just a "bird on a stick". |

Parrots are such social birds, it's nice to have captured a pair that are interacting (or at least appear to be interacting). I like the square crop here. Your processing really makes the pair pop. Good crisp detail in the feathers as well.
Pretty shot. |

That's quite a moment and story you've captured. The snake is trying hard to survive this encounter!
Because the bird is facing to the left, the space on the right is too much and feels uninteresting and unbalanced. I would crop from the right and perhaps leave a little bit more space on the left.
I rather like the cooler and softer colors of the original. Warming them up is ok but as Jerry noted this is over-saturated, and I feel a little too bright.

Bruce this is such a cool image! Those eyes are intense. Beautiful feather details in this close up view. I also hope it made it. |

Jerry, this is a fun image- your title perfectly describes how I'm seeing the scene! It helps that the two species have different brightly colored accents. And catching Snowy with the classic ruffled feathers adds even more interest to the shot. Nice job with the processing and I totally agree with the flip of the image. Nowhere near as effective in the original orientation. |
