Thanks Butch. I did take tight portraits of her with my longer lens, but when she started down the bank I switched cameras so that I would be ready for a possible hunt. I also like to have some more environmental shots with a lot of habitat, so another reason for switching it up. Here's one of my tighter shots. |

Thanks Michael, I like this crop a lot! My intent was to include habitat and I like this better than my straight vertical shot. |

Love this! Good vision to see the possibility in this. I like Butch's edits, especially that flip.

Nice action capture, I like that the one on the right is just landing with feet extended. Lightening up the birds a bit does help to separate them from the background better. I like your crop, although busy it tells the story of the environment they are in. |

An absolutely lovely portrait. The light in her eyes and that pink nose really get your attention, and thus give the portrait some impact. I also like the framing in the V of the tree, very effective.
I think it's important to take a variety of types of images when you're on a trip like this. It's good to have a broad portfolio for memories, doing a program, making a book about the trip.. Something I have to constantly remind myself of. And a beautiful portrait like this would make a great print to hang up.

Susan, you captured a lovely pose, I like this wing position where you can see one underside and one topside. Nice job of choosing a sky that looks natural for the situation.
To me, the bird has been lightened too much and it lacks contrast. Plus there are some odd color artifacts in the beak and the far wing. Here's my interpretation (minus the neat sky). I increased the exposure overall by 0.9 and then opened shadows "half-way" on the slider. I also did sharpen in Topaz AI. A different interpretation... |

Michael, Nice job with the pano and handling so many images to merge. I like your choice of sky replacement for this.
I do like your choice to include the people in the other overlook for the story it tells and the depth and scale it adds.
I also really like the "u" shape to the foreground in the original as well as the repeating shapes in the canyon on the left. So here's an alternative crop just for a second idea for this. I added clarity and dehazed, and brightened it up just a bit but didn't try to do the detailed work that Larry suggested.
I had to look at where this is- I think I was there many years ago with a film camera! |

Adrian, I like the mood created with the shower of rain. Good choice of shutter speed that gives streaks instead of dots, that really makes a difference to create the mood.
I like the slightly darker versions where the rain stands out more against the darker vegetation.
I'm with you on more space to convey the mood. Did you consider a vertical crop? Looking at the original one thing that stood out to me is the sense that it's up high on the limb. The vertical would keep that part of the story. |

Wow this is such a rich image. The wings perfectly frame the eagle's head and the tail all fanned out adds a lot. All the ice tells a great story.
Compositionally, I like the 2 groups of grasses coming in from the lower left corner. It gives a lead in to the bird, you follow the imaginary line created by the grasses. They also provide some balance. I might consider cropping a small amount from the top so there isn't as much of the brighter field of grass.
I think the eagle's dark feathers are also a bit too light- I'd like to see a bit more contrast and have them be richer dark brown, which I think you can do and still maintain the wonderful feather detail.
A lovely image and good job taking advantage of the quick opportunity. |

Handsome portrait of this bird, posed so well in the open on an interesting perch. The crop from the right is much better to me.
I like this as presented, but it is on the dark side. I raised the exposure by 3/4 stop in this edit. Of course, in doing so it changes the mood of the image substantially. Just an option to choose from. |

The bird gave you a nice pose with the raised head and open bill. The light gave you rich detail in all those black feathers, which doesn't always happen.
Flipping the image was a good choice, it "reads" much better in this direction. Nice work on the other cleanup too. |
