This is so pretty. I like the repeating triangle shapes, as you noted. This works well as a panoramic format, not just to eliminate the dark sky but to emphasize all those repeating shapes. The bit of light on the stand of trees on the right is a nice highlight. For me, this is a really nice shot. |

This is such a cool capture, I love the positions of the bears on opposite corners both intent on fishing. I tried playing with it a bit to try to make the bears stand out more. A bit more contrast (clarity and dehaze), and then selectively darkening the lower bear while brightening the head of the upper bear. I don't like the muddy water but I didn't go back and undo that. This is worth working on some more as others have said. |

This is really a lovely image. The colors and tones work so well together. I like that the reflection is not distinct, it adds to the overall feeling of the image. Great pose with the wings up. I like Larry's suggestion of a small bit more space on the right, not just to accommodate a frame but also to make it feel a bit more balanced. |

Thanks for the suggestions- I cloned out the one bright leaf on the breast and cropped the bottom a bit. |

Unfortunately this was the most animated shot I got, nothing midair. I've only managed to capture a rabbit hopping midair once and there was a big weed going right across it spoiling the opportunity. |

What a special experience, and a treat to be able to photograph the little hatchling. You can tell how really tiny it is compared to the grains of sand. Glad you were able to help one out!
My only question about the image is, why it looks so noisy given the shooting specs? |

Susan, you sure caught a nice shot of this handsome bird. Having the prey in it's talons is a big plus. I like the wing position and I like that one leg is trailing while the other foot grasps the snail.
I was curious to see what Larry's white balance suggestion would do, so I downloaded the raw image and used the white dropper on the tail band. I also bumped up the saturation and clarity (contrast) a small amount.
If you want to see Snail Kites, go to Brazil's Pantanal. They're everywhere... |

This is a pretty duck and the light on it is very nice. Your eye-level perspective gives a good feeling of connection with the bird. Bruce's crop makes a fine composition. |

The colors in this are fantastic, and I love the pose you captured with the bird poking down in to the bloom. It sure cleaned up nicely for that high of ISO! I was also thinking the bird felt a big crowded, and like Bruce's alternate crop. I'd have gone for more above the bird, but the horizontal space does the trick. I'm hoping to get to Borneo in the near future and this makes me even more interested. |

A nice perky pose for a perky little bird. I like the diagonal of the rock edge, and your square crop makes good use of it. The soft blues of the water make a pleasing background. The one thing I would try with this is warming up the white balance a bit, it seems quite gray to me. Of course that is part of the mood and feeling, so changing it might not work, but it is something I'd look at if this were my image.

Wow, what a riot of color, so perfect for a hummingbird! I love the diagonal of the flowers up to the birds' wings. Although the eye isn't prominent, the bird is clearly focused on it's target, which I find interesting. You can see the delicate scalloping of the feathers on the top of the bird's head.
I agree with Jerry's suggestion for a small crop from the top so there's about half the amount of the beige above the pink flowers.
What a lovely image- you have a nice yard!! |

Indeed, that combination of the pink bird and blue sky is a great one! I do like the vertical crop, with the height of the bird and the post it's on. I like the amount of post you've left. Although it is man-made, you need enough of it to "support the weight of the subject", so to speak. I also like that it leaves a bit of the greenery, giving a bit of context. Lovely preening pose and that low angle light is so sweet. Really nice image! |
