Group Round C/R Comment Date Image
1 Apr 21 Comment Hate to pick on reading but often get just as much or more from utube Apr 2nd
1 Apr 21 Comment The foliage and waterfall are beautiful, but I find the wired glass ceiling very distractive so I'm offering you another suggestion. Apr 1st
1 Apr 21 Comment This reminds me of an image I saw in my first photography class taken by a famous photographer (can't remember which one) that I always wanted to emulate and still haven't had the luck to come across anything close. Lovely image. Apr 1st
1 Apr 21 Comment Great image. My gut tells me that if he was blind, he would probably have heard the group and turned toward the sound, which leads me to believe that he may have been meditating or observing some kind of ritual, none of which affects the great result you got. Apr 1st
1 Apr 21 Comment You put a lot of work into this and it shows. However, I'm not sure if it's the flowers themselves or if some of the texture in the petals was lost in the process. Overall it's a beautiful image. Would love to have seen the original Apr 1st
1 Apr 21 Comment I gave up buying books. Somehow I seem to get through the first five or six pages and then learn by experimentation and seeing other peoples work and asking questions.

Whatever you did to create this worked and it worked well. This is extremely well done.

2 Apr 21 Comment This is a great image. I only wish you had been able to maybe run up ahead and catch her walking toward you. I'm sure her face might have been a great photo as well. Apr 1st
2 Apr 21 Comment The concept here is very interesting. However, although the bare branches signify winter there are so many that they become distracting. Maybe if you had gotten closer to the shoreline you might have been able to eliminate some. I think you may have been caught between aa rock and a hard place in trying to execute this to its best advantage. Apr 1st

3 Apr 21 Reply Great Idea. Let's hear from the rest of the group Apr 3rd
3 Apr 21 Comment I don't dislike the soft focus but my personal preference is to have at least one lead flower sharp. The image is lovely and had I realized your intent, I probably never would have mentioned it. Apr 3rd
3 Apr 21 Comment Lovely image but not quite sharp. I took this into Topaz Studio 2 - went to Smudge and sharpened it a bit which also added some additional texture to the leading petal. What do you think? Apr 1st

4 Apr 21 Comment This image is not only well done but tells a story of the process of pottery making. I love it. Apr 1st

5 Apr 21 Comment Having that gentleman in the image only enhances the massiveness of the Durdle door. I do love your sky and give you credit for having amassed enough skies to remain a purist. I try to use my own whenever possible, but must admit I do often look for something I don't have.
Your overall image is beautiful.
Apr 1st
5 Apr 21 Comment Both images are lovely but I think I prefer the original. It may be my eye, but if you look carefully at the second image, the candelabra on he left seems to be very slightly tilted toward the right whereas on the original it's straight. I also prefer the more contrasty feel of the original. Apr 1st

8 Apr 21 Comment WoW! What a beautiful image. And as an administrator, please let me commend you not only on a beautiful image but for taking the time and effort to tell the viewer all about the image. I found the history fascinating. Apr 1st

9 Apr 21 Comment Beautiful. I wish the tulips were available here in Florida but I haven't seen them in years. The colors and details in these flowers are wonderful and I really love the pale background you used. Well done! Apr 11th
9 Apr 21 Comment Great image John. I love the PS Sky Replacement. There isn't a day I don't try it on something. Bought Luminar for their sky replacement but find PS a bit easier to manipulate although Luminar has a great selection to choose from. I think this is a great competition image. Good luck with it. Apr 11th
9 Apr 21 Comment Absolutely Gorgeous. Love the background you chose. For me this is a winner. Apr 11th

13 Apr 21 Reply That's the beauty of participating in these study groups. We see things differently and the decisions are left to the maker. It is a beautiful image in the end and that's what counts Apr 19th
13 Apr 21 Comment The image certainly tells he story of winter in Hamilton, but I feel as Judith did, that the tree is extraneous and results in dead space. I also found that huge pole on the left of the buss very obtrusive so with a few content aware fill moves, I removed. It's not a perfect fix, but with a bit more time and some cloning of the surroundings, you would have a much better image. Apr 18th

13 Apr 21 Comment Beautiful, but a lot of dead space on the left so I cropped it a bit, which also made the beautiful flower look larger Hope you like it Apr 18th
13 Apr 21 Comment Great image. Monochrome is very appropriate here. And I really appreciate the accompanying story. I wish everyone made an attempt at doing that. Apr 18th
13 Apr 21 Comment Great composition. However, as with many of the images I review, I wish I knew more about the situation, the subjects, etc. Was this a candid or posed? Apr 18th

24 Apr 21 Reply The more I use them the further I get hooked on all the Topaz filters. You're most welcome
Apr 18th
24 Apr 21 Comment I saw the other commentary and thought I'd get you hooked on Topaz. I noted Larry's comment that you softened the image when using de noise So I went into Topaz Studio 2- and used Sharpen. What do you think? Apr 17th
24 Apr 21 Comment Beautiful image and an extremely well done time consuming project which was well rewarded result Apr 17th

25 Apr 21 Comment I find both flowers soft. I selected the flower on the left as the main subject. Duplicated that one only, This created that flower on it's one layer - then went into Topaz Studio 2 - chose Filters - Stylistic - Smudge - Sharpen and sharpened only that one flower. Then flattened the layers, re-selected the sharpened image, did an inverse, and blurred the inverse section of the remaining part of the image. Apr 17th
25 Apr 21 Comment The tulip is beautiful; however, I don't find that brown thing under the lower left of the bottom leaf or the blue thing on the lower right positive additions to the image. Apr 17th

34 Apr 21 Comment Great idea, great result. I have a friend who uses an image of his daughter's eye that was taken years ago in multiple images an usually does extremely well in competition. Good luck with this it is so unique. Apr 20th
34 Apr 21 Comment Very creative with an excellent result. Apr 20th
34 Apr 21 Comment Beautiful work. I took the liberty of printing it for my file of things to do. Apr 20th

42 Apr 21 Comment Well done. Apr 11th
42 Apr 21 Comment Job well done. I would probably have made the same comments re placement and readability of the jars. Color palette is excellent. Apr 11th
42 Apr 21 Comment If you have Topaz Studio 2 - what I did was open it and click on sharpen, played with the layers a bit and I think there was some improvement. I also felt that the greenery at he bottom was overpowering the beautiful flower so I brought it back into photoshop and cloned some of the beautiful background over a bit of the greenery leaving a hint of it. My taste, I think it's an improvement. What do you think? Apr 11th
42 Apr 21 Comment I would have done only two other things to make this image perfect...remove the power line and remove the pole at the front of the house. Apr 11th
42 Apr 21 Comment The rocks are great. I'm not sure if that's the original sky or if you imported one. If you did, I would recommend adding a few clouds for additional interest, although it's a great image as is. Apr 11th

48 Apr 21 Comment Actually earlier I said I preferred the final...actually after seeing the correct final enlarged, in my opinion it's a much better result. Apr 20th
48 Apr 21 Reply That's the whole idea - a great group to try a new idea and learn from each other. Apr 20th
48 Apr 21 Reply You are fine. I guess I got involved in correcting the sizing and it was my goof. Thanks to COVID, I'm beginning to not know what day it is. Sorry it was my fault. Apr 20th
48 Apr 21 Reply I must have posted them wrong. They were not labeled so I guess I assumed that the first one was the original. I will repost now and notify the group to take a second look. Apr 18th
48 Apr 21 Comment I prefer your final. Just enough color to not result in a monochrome. I prefer the image as your final as the main subject gives me the feeling of a "lost soul" heading into "who knows where" which your title so aptly conveys. Apr 17th
48 Apr 21 Reply Our camera club had a mentor image this week and I got a couple of suggestions on this one so I'm asking for a few other comments before submitting for judging. Which do you prefer? Apr 17th
48 Apr 21 Reply Will do Apr 5th
48 Apr 21 Reply I put this into a club competition for tomorrow night. Hope the judge likes it as much as you all do. Apr 5th
48 Apr 21 Reply Thanks Apr 4th
48 Apr 21 Reply Thanks. Due to the limitations of Covid I've spent the last year re-creating old images but am rapidly running out of ideas. Apr 2nd

80 Apr 21 Comment I actually did nothing to the saturation. It was that bright at the time ... probably new or really just washed.
Thanks.

80 Apr 21 Reply Do you like this better? Apr 17th
80 Apr 21 Reply I tend to agree with you re the ball Apr 11th
80 Apr 21 Comment Thanks Carol. I will clone it out before submitting it for a competition. Apr 8th
80 Apr 21 Comment Thanks for your comments. As to Cuba, fascinating is the understatement of the year! Any time you're ready don't hesitate to let me know. As a travel agent I've sent people there and the response has always been nothing but fantastic, especially for photographers. At this point although I believe there are still some trips going, I would try to outwait Covid at the least. Apr 2nd
80 Apr 21 Comment Nice! Tells the story of a group of women showing off for the camera Apr 1st
80 Apr 21 Comment I realize that your subject is the gentleman but I wish there was a bit more oopmh on these beautiful arches Apr 1st
80 Apr 21 Comment This is an interesting image but in post processing I would have made an attempt to blur the background, just keeping the subject and the boy Apr 1st
80 Apr 21 Comment So true to today's normal. Tells an interesting story of our times. Well done. Apr 1st

87 Apr 21 Comment I tried using a non-destructive layer mask to tone down the white wall but wasn't happy with the result so I toned it down with a very light gray paint at a very low opacity. What do you think? Apr 4th
87 Apr 21 Comment Love your creativity! Apr 4th

88 Apr 21 Comment Nice improvement. Here again comes the question of using outside sources to improve our images. When the image is for a competition or similar, we must obviously follow the rules of the individual situation; however, I am all for reasonable free range in other situations. I don't really think there's a right or wrong here Apr 6th
88 Apr 21 Comment Charles, you bring up a very interesting subject for discussion regarding the sky. Is the concept OK if one uses the base sky and then makes some alterations to it? Is it OK to adjust the lighting on the trees is adjusted by filters? I'm not even sure that the sky you used would be considered a stock image or filter improvement.
And I certainly do not think the image is awful...needs some work yes, but awful....definitely not.

92 Apr 21 Comment I lived on L.I. at the time and had just come into work (travel agency) and hadn't gotten to turn on the TV yet when one of my employees came in to ask if I had heard the news. I was one of the fortunate ones who lived and worked outside of the city and had no one personally involved. Condolences on your loss.

Great image.
There will never be enough reminders to be certain there is truly a NEVER AGAIN!
Apr 4th
92 Apr 21 Comment I love this image but found the pole in the center breaking up the long look toward the window. So I took it out using content-aware-fill an left the top to look like it was hanging from the ceiling leaving you a leading line to the outdoors. What do you think? Apr 4th
92 Apr 21 Comment Nice image but a bit dark. I created a non destructive layer mask and attempted to brighten the main subject's face a bit as
well as the jacket of the young lady in the mirror.

What do you think?
Apr 4th
92 Apr 21 Comment Although my understanding of Street Photography does not include posing - but I do it myself sometimes - I like this image. The different "poses" of the dogs, coloring, and the two trainers "guarding the troops" all come together for a nice result. Apr 4th
92 Apr 21 Comment That child makes this image. You really have two images here and both individually are excellent examples of the oblivion of our surroundings - the girls who are in their own world and have no idea what's going on around them and the two boys so intent on what they're looking at in the one boy's hand they don't even realize that the younger one is rapt onto something they couldn't care less about. Wonderfully executed. Apr 4th
92 Apr 21 Comment Good Street Photography which tells the story short and sweet. Technical aspects are well done. All the different shades and textures are well displayed. Excellent result overall. Apr 4th

95 Apr 21 Comment The only thing I might have done to this was further blur the background. The flower is not only my favorite color but it is gorgeous and sharp as sharp can be. Apr 4th

96 Apr 21 Comment The composition is very interesting but for my personal taste the overall result is a little bland. So I played with it a bit, first in Topaz Studio 2, which gave me nothing I was happy with; and, then decided to see if a better sky would be an enhancement. So, here is the result. What do you think? Apr 4th
96 Apr 21 Comment The black and white version is spectacular. For this image I think the color is a distraction. This result reminds me of an Ansel Adams print of Yosemite that would be average in color but spectacular in B&W Apr 4th
96 Apr 21 Comment Lovely image. Would have been nice if a bear was handy to include. Well done! Apr 4th
