As I said, I'm not even sure it's an improvement but worth a try. |

It is beautiful as it stands but if I were to get very picky I might suggest toning down the few very white petals on the left site. And I'm not even sure that would be an improvement. |

Visiting from 48 & 80. The result is superb. I used to be quite good with polar coordinates myself and then stopped using it for a while. Now I guess for me it's going to have to be back to Utube because I forgot more than I remember. Well done

This is a very well done image - without your description, my first instinct was...homeless fellow looking for alms, food, or whatever. Sharp, perfect contrast and toning. |

Visiting from 48 & 80...When I saw your comment I did go back to last month to see what you had submitted and what the "issue" was. Sorry to tell you but I agree with your group members from last month.
As a guest, I really don't like to be negative and wish to offer more positive suggestions; but, I'm unhappy with this one as well. I am assuming that you intended only the center image to be sharp, but I find the others which are all blurred do not enhance the image. I think I would rather have seen this as a collage of possibly fewer images, but all sharp telling a story. |

Our assigned subject for the month was kitchen tools/appliances and after doing some online research I came up with this. However, if you're local to Florida we'd love to have you in our club. |

Margaret, getting the image into photoshop is a snap. Right click on the image on the group site. It will offer you the opportunity to save the image, which I do. I save it to my pictures and then open photoshop, pick it out of my pictures, make the changes, save it and then go back to the site and enter it. If you're home tomorrow night call me after 6 - 561-752-3992 and I'll walk you through it. |

Nice image Jamie. If the lighting issue is consistent with your images, you may want to calibrate your monitor or tone down the images a tad, which I have been doing for years in our camera club because the projector was blowing them out. |

If I ever get a good fireworks shot, I'll send out the troops to celebrate. That said this is a terrific image. And a suggestion to the two ladies who have suggested cropping....why not pull the image into photoshop yourself, execute the crop and show us what you are talking about. Not only does it give you a chance to express your thoughts in action, but it becomes a better learning experience for all of the group members.
I've attached my suggestion for a crop since it's all about the "owl" |

Those birds are tack sharp and the colors are so alive. Wonderful image. My only suggestion would be to tone down the ropes a bit as that yellow more than anything jumps out and takes away from the beauty of the birds. See my visual feedback. |

That huge rock is an absolute downer for me. Had you moved a bit to either side, you probably would have had a much better image. Just as a suggestion, with almost every image I shoot, I make at least five alternatives. I move, I change the aperture, etc. In film days, I worked to support the film and developing. Today it's the cheapest thrill I can get and when I get home, I have more choices to work with than the proverbial "Carter has peanuts". Best habit I ever acquired. |

I do like the motion as well. As to the pool in the back I'm not disturbed that it may be out of focus as the main subject is in the foreground and the softness of the background is not to my knowledge unusable. |

Just to enhance on Stu's layer instructions - for the uninformed this is a non-destructive layer mask and using the brush tool with black paint will reduce brightness and on the reverse, using a white paint will brighten up the spots selectively. |

In looking at the image again, I realize I must have mistaken the "shelf" on his right to a phone based on the angle and location of his hands. You are right on re the title on that basis. |

Don't know if it's my eyes after all day of watching TV to keep track of the oncoming hurricane which I hope won't get here -- but it seems a touch soft o me. I do find all the color of those beautiful tulips a bit overwhelming and wonder if toning them down just a tad would be an improvement and make her stand out a bit more. |

I almost put in a very similar image this month that I had taken in Havana which I will probably go with next month. I actually titled mine Watching the World Go By
At any rate, I like your conversion to B&W much better than the original. Kind of gives the feeling for me of a somewhat sad story.

Such a cute shot. I have often approached the parents and offered to send them a copy of the image and given them my card. Strangely enough, never have I gotten a request for the image, but I felt good about offering. |
