Ella,
I enjoy the creativity that your images demonstrate. I wonder if I might like the image more if there was no reflection from the glasses. I agree with the other comments re the focus of foreground. Cant wait to see what you will share with us next month. |

Nick,
I agree with your comment re the "last rock". I will re-work the image and try to make the corrections you suggested. I am going back to do another round of LE shooting to the southern part of OR in mid Oct. |

Peter,
Thank you for your comments. I am originally from the East coast of the US having moved to OR about 6 years ago. I am fascinated by the sea stacks and take every opportunity to visit the various beaches in OR. This is my first attempt at making my images more minimalist. |

The leading lines of the surf and to a lesser extent the brighter area in the mountain range lead the viewer's eye to the sea stacks. The isolated sea-stack in the left foreground reminds me of a sentry standing watch over the beautiful location. Beautiful image. |

I think this image is very well suited for monochrome. I find the base are to be out of focus but the changes made by Nick seem to reduce the blur. The darkening of the background puts more emphasis on the swan. |

Peter,
The image is very pleasing. I enjoy the repeating shapes (triangles) in the mountains and rooftop of the barn. The lines going though the image created by the road, the base of the mountains and the dry grass give the image another repeating theme. The editing is well done. |

John,
As others have noted, a little more space on the left side would have enhanced the image. Cropping the top of the image to the second "step" takes away part of the image that doesnt add interest to the image. Overall it is a great image with wonderful contrast. |

I think the image is well balanced and the grain tower does give context to the image. The tones of the image are well balanced and the clouds do a nice job of directing the viewer's eye to the tower once the eye leaves the train. |

I enjoy the repeating shapes in this image. Although my eye goes towards the Buddha, I might suggested darkening the area directly behind the statue to give it more pop. Although only mildly detracting I would remove the person in the lower left of the stairs. The sky is very unusual and I find very pleasing to the eye. I also like the inclusion of a border on the image. Susan |

As my colleagues have noted the image seems somewhat flat. Cropping the image to go no further than the shoreline on the upper edge of the image and removing some on each side, would focus the eye on the boat nestled in the reeds.Another though would be to remove the tree on the left and keep the clouds. In either care I would increase the contrast to make th image poop a bite. |

I find the image very busy. I appreciate the hands of the tree and might like to see that as the main subject of another image. For me the most enjoyable part of the image is the base of the tree. It looks almost magical. I would like to see the image cropped on the top and sides with the focused on the base of the tree.It seems that each of us has a favorite portion of the tree to focus on. Glad it is nearby your home so you can continue to obtain many more images. |

I agree with he suggestions to crop on the left side, bring out the detail in the rocks and perhaps remove the stick. Recently I have been doing some long exposures (LE) on both my cameras. I had never tired it before with the IR camera but it might be an option for this image. Just a thought as the LE would soften the waves and create a more dreamlike setting. Susan |

There was street fair in Santa Fe. The gentleman was just sitting outside on of the stores. I am not sure if this was his normal dress or if he had gotten into the spirit of the fair.
I will take a look at the image again as tools have improved and perhaps I can get the eyes to look more natural.
Thnkas for your comments and suggestions. |
