Thank you all for your comments. I was on a photo workshop in Paris this November when I took this image. I had limited mobility as I was waiting to return home for hip replacement. Did not plan on the surgery when I booked the trip. Most nights I did not go out with the group since I was lacking endurance. However, this image made the trip worthwhile. I am now recovering from surgery at home and looking forward to getting back out to shoot. Happy Holidays, Susan |

Ella,
Made me smile when I looked at your image. The story behind the image also gives a second meaning to the image. I alwasy look at the image first and then the story and then back to the image. The sharpness of ribbon makes it appear the it is standing out from the background. Nice work and happy holidays. |

Ed,
You have taken the ordinary and given it drama. Might suggest a slight reduction in brightness to the middle ring of the image. Almost like a secondary vignette if that makes sense. Susan |

Ian,
Happy Holidays to you and the rest of the group. The image is very dramatic. I wonder if you could clone out just bit of the post by the words Tiny as it looks like the post is attached to his head. If possible I might suggest trying to bring out some of the shadows in the lower part of the face. It looks like actor has a mask on. Overall well done. Susan |

Peter,
I think this is an excellent image and I like it in black and white as opposed to the more traditional color image of the same subject matter. I wonder if the image might be enhanced by ice in the foreground being lightened a bit. The lightness in the aurora gives movemetn to the image. Great work. Susan |

John,
Providing the context of the image is very helpful. At first look, I did not see the image as about trees. Reading your comments, I get a better understanding of the image, I might suggest you take off the last tree on the right and see if that focuses your eye more on the central theme of the image.I would have liked to see the top of the center tree included. I feel a lot of movement in the image when looking at the clouds. Agree that additional contrast might enhance the image. I enjoyed looking at this image. Susan |
