Group,
Thank you all for the welcome into the group and your thoughtful suggestions for improvement. I like the version much better with Peter's adjustment. I have an image that I will post for next month where I had a similar issue. In that one however, I did see that the white was not bright enough when I printed the image and I enhanced the whites. Ella,
I have a very similar image that I took several years ago with my IR camera. It was taken in Santa Fe. I dont know much about butterflies but it looks very similar in species to my image. Great detail in the face and antenna of the butterfly. Agree with the suggestion to to darken the background. Susan |

Nick,
Interesting composition. I like the vertical review best. In the center image, I suggest darkening the rocks on the upper right and at the top of the image. They take me out of the image. Great detail in the rocks. Susan |

Ian,
I love th eimage. I aree with the suggestion to perhaps have the hand on an angle going from up from left to right. The two circles by the index figure are distracting. I also agree that the background could be darker. If you print your work, it might look good on a metallic paper. Susan |

Peter,
I enjoyed viewing your image. I would like to see more contrast in the elements of your image. To me the focal point is the ship wreck. I would like to see it standout from the other elements of the image. The tone of the boat is very close to the rock. Perhaps darkening the foreground might help. Overall it is a strong image. John,In looking at the image, I do not see a focal point. My suggestion would be to work on each of the white birches individually and have the one you believe is the strongest and lighten it. The other 3 birch should also be lighten but to a lesser version than the focal tree. I looked at cropping out the trees on the right side as I find them distracting but did not think that was a good solution. A vignette may also help viewer focus on the key element of the scene. I do light the interpay between shadows and the trees. Susan |
