A little slice of Italian life - old courtyards and slightly decaying buildings always make a good subject, and of course the bike lifts the image. It almost emphasises the emptiness of the courtyard. I like the yellow that you have managed to introduce which does make the image more interesting, but the part in sunshine looks to have gone completely to white. Is there any detail in the original file - if it was Raw, sometimes there is more detail than in a jpeg. |

An interesting piece of Street Photography, though I did need the explanation that it relates to the No Kings protest to understand it a bit more - after all, we have a King in the UK!! From a purely pictorial sense, your crop and B&W conversion are exactly the right way to go, concentrating on the important people and giving a more gritty documentary feel. I don't really see any conflict in the picture - it is hard to tell if the two men on the left are for or against the protest, or they just happened to be there - but it's a good documentary record of this specific event. I notice that his T-Shirt says 'They Didn't Burn Witches' but your title is 'They Don't Burn Witches' - was that small difference intentional? |

Thanks Sanford. It will be going into a few competitions and I'll see how it does. |

Henriette, I think you have done what you can to improve the original - the main point was removing the unnatural red eye. Maybe a touch more lightening of the bird, and I would suggest a crop in from bottom left to put the bird central in the frame. There is some nice evening light and it is good that it is looking straight at you. It is a little hidden in the foliage, but wildlife never does what you want - usually birds turn their back on me as soon as I point my camera at them! |

Rusty - Moraine Lake is a fabulous location with that deep turquoise water backed by impressive mountains. The one thing I would suggest is to straighten up the horizon - with water it is always obvious if the image is a little tilted. If you want to do a bit more, I suggest darkening down the mountains a little to bring out some more detail in there, and I agree with Sanford that you could crop a bit off the foreground rocks - the Lake and Mountains are the main subject and the rocks just need to provide a base. Canada 2003 was my first ever holiday with a digital camera - this reminds me of why I should go back! |

Although the deer might be a problem, I envy you for having wildlife like that literally on your doorstep.... And snow as well!! The original lacks a lot of contrast being shot through glass, but you have managed to bring that back, so the final image looks fine. Great shot of the deer, but the tags are a bit prominent - part of the story, but I wonder what the deer thinks about them? |

Ian, I prefer this image to your previous Murray River image. Lots more drama to the sky and I like that the central tree rises a bit higher than the others - enough to provide a focal point for the trees. Regarding cloud images, we all have those - take them looking out to sea for a clean horizon! |
