I really like the subject of the dead tree and your composition with the central tree bounded by the rocks. It is your image to present as you wish, but unfortunately I am not so keen on the processing - a bit too contrasty and bright for my taste, and I am not so keen on sepia. I do like the image, so I have attached an alternative, reverting to B&W, softened out the contrast in the sky, added quite a strong vignette to push the interest into the central tree, and also applied a slight skew adjustment. Just my suggestion - obviously it's your image and your vision. |

A Song of Ice and Fire? Quite a unique event then, so a great subject to record - what was the temperature? Focusing on a small part of the scene is a good idea, and you also have the wide shot of the building for the overall view. The building creates quite a busy background, but I guess is needed to provide the 'fire' part of the story. Alternative title Winter Fire Light? |

Cuba this time - you do get about! Great sunset colours and a wonderful 'end of the day' feel to this one - we get the idea that these guys will still be playing long after it gets dark. It is surprising how much detail can be pulled out of the shadows - in the original we can't see the goalkeeper at all. The overlap of the goal posts with the standing player is a bit of a shame, but that's what you get when they are all running around. A good slice of Cuban life. |

Thanks Jay. I hadn't really considered the trees on the right, but yes, it helps that the water is still and gives a nice reflection. |

Thanks Ian. I usually do quite a bit of processing if I think the image is worth it, but I mentioned it in this case because the final image is not too different from the original. Quite a few steps, but small ones. |
