Thanks for your comments Jay. Yes I think it needs the mono treatment to give it a bit more of a menacing feeling. |

Thanks for your comments Trey. I have no idea whether he is left/right handed and whether he is holding the gun correct. I think its a dummy, so unlikely to shoot anything! But you are correct that anyone who knows about guns might say it's all wrong. As for the spats, I deliberately darkened them down because I thought the white was a bit distracting, so yes that was a conscious decision. |

Thanks Ian. Please also see my reply to Henriette below regarding my input on lighting and working with the model. I can take part of the credit as the model poser, shutter button pusher and editor. |

I used a Content Aware Fill to replace the curtain on the left side of the image, so the bright parts of the curtain were completely removed. Content Aware Fill is your 'friend' for turning what you actually shot into what you should have shot in the first place.
To be honest, in these studio shots my input is not so great. The choice of model, costume, main props (background and chair) and lighting is done by the photo-shoot organiser. We work in small groups, and as a group we might say 'let's take some pictures sat on the chair'. Individually, I might suggest holding the gun, how to sit on the chair, where to look. Some people criticise these shoots as not being the photographers own work, but so what - it's all a bit of fun, plus I have learned a lot about studio work, so that I am now thinking about hiring a studio/model and 'going solo'. |

You seem to be keen on your lens baby, and it works very well here. As a viewer, we don't have to know about all the 'failures', we just see the final version, which I think is a success. The additional texture is sympathetic to the flower and definitely enhances the image as well. Just one question - have you considered creating your own textures? I went to a workshop run by a very creative photographer and she created textures by starting with several layers (say 5-6) of stone walls, tiles, fabric etc, then tried out different blend modes, different opacity, changing hue etc until she produce a texture she liked, then saved that in a texture library for later use. It's not as simple as it seems, but that way the image would be all your own work, which would be more satisfying (IMO). |

You are lucky to have tomatoes that grow in your garden - far too cold for that where I am. I don't think you have used too much water - it looks fine to me - and I like the zoomed-in point of view. The front part of the right tomato has gone a little soft This would be an ideal subject to practice focus stacking to really nail the focus front-to-back. Something to try before moving out of your yard? |

Sanford - do you ever spend any time at home?!? I have visited Iceland a few times, and agree it is a fantastic country for landscape photography. However I have to admit to being a bit anti-drone as they disturb the peace at quiet locations. Maybe in the middle of Iceland there are only sheep to disturb? Anyway, thanks for sharing this different view of Iceland - with the drone we can see the precarious perch of the sheep and an intriguing glimpse of a waterfall in the background. I am still not convinced to take up drone photography though. |

All I know about the Amish is from the film Witness, so it is interesting that you can show us a real bit of their culture (well, a farm anyway!) Good idea to fill in the road as it leads the eye past the farm instead of towards it and the cropping puts the farm in a nice position in the frame. I know you have presented the image in the way you like, but for me it is a little over-saturated and I would prefer something maybe mid-way between the original and the final image - personal preference I know. |

It's surprising to see how high the top of Sydney Harbour bridge is - I thought at first that you were trying out some drone photography like Sanford. The curves of the boat wakes nicely frame the Opera House, so a good choice of 'moment' to fill the left side of the image. Not much more to say - sharp, bright and a good view of the harbour.......except, there is a tiny but of white wake at the far left of the image which just snags my eye when I look at the centre of the image. I know, I'm terrible, but it would be so easy to remove that. |
