Thanks for your comments Trey - I will have a think. I did not brighten the lamp too much because I did not want it to become the focus of attention, and I kept the woman's face bright because we want to see all three characters. It's a bit of a balance between mimicking reality and bending it to present the important elements of the image. I agree though that I could brighten the lamp a little. |

Thanks Henriette. In terms of thought process, it was obvious that the 'accident' should be on a road instead of on grass, so I sourced a suitable cobbled street and warped it to fit the image. That still left some grass in the background, so I needed a suitable back stop for the road, so the pavement, wall and hedge were all from another image, warped to match the curve of the road. I wanted a darker evening image, so I applied a few colour lookup adjustments to darken everything down. Having darkened everything, I then needed a source of light, so added the lamppost, then added the 'light' from the lamp, car headlights and bicycle lamp.
Using AI is not an option for me as it means the image would be ineligible for competitions, which I enjoy entering. So everything has to be sourced from my own images and putting it all together is actually more fun than typing in a few AI prompts. |

I think mono is definitely the correct decision with this image - it was almost mono to start with anyway. I like the top half of the image with the slanting shadows and the arched metal frame making a very graphic image. However the bottom half unfortunately becomes rather busy, with all the intersecting railings, furniture and bins. I am not sure there was anything you could do to simplify it, except perhaps ask the owners to remove their furniture in the interest of fine art? |

A good capture of a bit of local life. We really get a feel for the steepness of the hillside and the fact that all the work is performed manually, with all the family helping out. I actually quite like the softer contrast in the distance because it emphasises the separation between the steep foreground hillside and the far side of the valley. Thanks for showing us another part of the world. |

I find this an unusual image, probably not one I would think to take myself. It is probably difficult to stand back and fit the whole aircraft in, so you have had to think 'out of the box' and given us just a section of the aircraft. So well done for coming up with a simple but interesting composition from what is probably a crowded environment. Also for info, Tolouse is the headquarters and final assembly location for Airbus, so very much the centre of the commercial aircraft industry in Europe. |

A quacking shot Jay (sorry couldn't resist!). Seriously though, nice and sharp and I think your processing on this is spot on. The ducks seem brighter and sharper than in the original and I like the slight blue-green colour that has been brought out in the water. I also like that each duck has their own space - no overlapping of shadows or reflections. Well done. |

Thanks for your comments Keith. I have to admit that the shoot was not organised by me, but by the 'policeman' who hires the models and they usually bring their own costumes. That's why I think it is important to do a lot of processing on the image - to create something that is uniquely my own. |

Thanks Sanford. I do not find time to do a lot of this type of image, but I enjoy the process once in a while. |

Thanks Ian. These photoshoots are always fun to do. They are organised by the 'policeman' in this picture who is an ex amateur dramatics actor. Usually it is with just one model at a time, but here all three joined in. PS - the lady was 'arrested' for her bad driving! |

So, welcome to the world of digital art - some people might say that it's not real photography, but who cares as long as you enjoy what you do and produce something you like. In this case, I think your texture is very effective over the blue background, but I wonder if you could have reduced the opacity of the texture over the flower - especially the central sharpest area - so that we retain more of then natural flower. Just my suggestion, but well done for trying something new and adding to your 'tool kit'. |
