Thanks for your comments Trey. I also thought of Stairway To Heaven as a possible title. |

Thank-you Sanford. Any type of photography takes time to learn, so maybe golf just has to take a back seat!! |

Well I think that's better - a bit more depth to the foreground and the sky looks more natural, though a little bright on the left and far right IMO. The important question is what do you think? |

In astro terms, stars are quite bright, and easily saturated in long exposures. The original image had over 2000 pixels of pure white (I have a program that calculates that). Since the image is about the stars, it's a challenge to try to avoid too many that are pure white. |

I think with this image you had some challenges with the dark foreground and bright trees. There is some good autumn colour in the trees, but I think in boosting the shadows, the image looses depth and looks a little flat and lacking contrast. I also think the original sky looked softer and more natural than the final image. Obviously this is your image to edit as you wish (and normally I think your editing is very good), but this time it's not to my taste - sorry to be negative, but the purpose of the group is to give honest feedback.
PS - I am however intrigued as to what makes this an 'Ice Age trail'? |

You do get around a bit Sanford! Wonderful crepuscular rays and I think your cropping and editing from the original are spot on. I have seen it said that in Landscape photography, we photograph the light on the landscape rather than the landscape itself, and this image demonstrates that - it's all about the light. Well done on capturing this fleeting moment. |

Mandarin ducks make a lovely colourful subject and you have captured this one very well. I love all the movement and reflections in the water. I agree with Ian that the area above the eye looks a bit flat and over-exposed, I don't know whether you can recover the detail. Otherwise well done, especially on trying something different. |

A good capture of the Old Goat. Nice and sharp around the eyes (yes goat's eyes are a bit odd) and good textures and detail on the animal. It's maybe just going over-exposed around the tail, but it looks like you have some detail in the original image, so try 'protecting' those highlights in your editing. The fence is a slight distraction and it's unfortunate that one of the posts is directly behind the goat's head. A small shift left or right might have helped, but I don't know how much time you had to frame the subject. However a good shot of the goat. |

Thanks for the feedback. To answer your question, any recurring number like 111 is called an Angel Number in astrology, and 111 specifically represents a new beginning or new opportunity. So that seemed appropriate for my first star trails picture! An alternative explanation is that my wife and I decided an hour in the dark and cold was long enough. That would give 120 x 30sec exposures, but allowing for a bit of time between shots and I ended up with 111 exposures. Take your pick of explanation! |
