Hi Ian - thanks for your welcome to the group.
As you say with infra red, it depends on the subject, and the subject here certainly works well with the dark headstones and white grasses making a very dramatic image. Was it intentional to use a very narrow aperture to force a longer exposure? In any case, the resulting movement in the grasses gives the impression of the solid gravestones planted in a moving sea of grass. My only thought is that a bit more detail could be pulled out of all that white grass. A local contrast adjustment (or Detail Extractor in Nik Effects if you have that) might add a bit more depth to the image. |

Hello Jay - As I am new to the group, this is my first chance to provide comments. I think this is a well seen image. I like the framing from the tree shadows and the birdcage in the window provides an essential focal point. The mono treatment also works well - the original was almost mono anyway! It might benefit from a little cropping as suggested by Ian - I would certainly crop off the bright patch bottom right as it snags the eye slightly. Otherwise, nothing more to suggest. |

Hello Sanford - new to the group, so this is my first opportunity to comment. With all nature images it's always good that the animals are doing something and they certainly are here. It's good that you have retained feather detail in the birds - white birds are very easy to over-expose. I think the image would be better without the bird top left and if you want to retain a pure nature image without cloning, a slight rotation might allow it to be cropped out without loosing the wing tip of the small bird. I also think the final image looks a little yellow compared to the original and I would give it a slight temperature adjustment towards the blue. |

Hello Trey - my first opportunity to comment on your images! This is certainly a very abstract image - almost like a mono Jackson Pollock. I like that there is the central area of shorter lines and you were right to crop to a square format to emphasise that area. Initially I wasn't sure about the very stark black and white treatment as I quite like the subtle browns and blues of the original, but I can see what you are aiming for and a straight mono conversion would look quite dull. Any improvements? I thought about adding a bit of a vignette to darken the outside and when I experimented I thought that emphasised the centre a bit more and added some additional depth to the image. |
