Thanks, Jerry- You're exactly right. I wish I had thought of that because that would have made a better fence and a better photo! |

Thanks, Frans! It's hard for me to just how much saturation seems "natural". I appreciate the feedback!

Thanks, Bradford. I'm glad to get your perspective. The stairs on the left lead up to top of a second cliff where the other half of the castle is located. Since that part of the castle isn't visible (except in my head!), you're probably right that it isn't needed. It was a remarkable set of ruins which had originally been connected by a land bridge across the chasm which had collapsed a few centuries ago. But this picture shouldn't have tried to cover that part of the story. |

What an attractive shot, Frans! I like the way you processed it and brought out the lighting and colors in a very balanced way. It may just be my perception, but it seems like the picture bends- especially on the right side. This often occurs in taking shots of tall buildings with wide lenses, but it almost looks like a lens issue here, too, which may be causing some downward bending. It's not bad and it may be the effect which you have planned, but it seems to jump out to me as some distortion. |

HI Bradford, What a fun image! I can imagine how much you enjoyed seeing and capturing the images of the dolphins! I agree with Pierre that the dolphins don't stand out well from the background which is bright and has similar coloring. I tried a little post-processing to darken and blur the background so the images stand out a bit more. This may be too much, but it gives you an idea of how it might look to bring out the front images as a stronger focal point. |

Love to see this type of image. So glad the sky was clear so you could get a good shot. No suggestions. |

Nice image, Pierre- really gives you a feeling of a cold winter, with a nice focal point of the ice mounts in the river. I wonder if it would be a little clearer with a bit more contrast? I tried doing that with the attached image and it seems like it's a bit more interesting with the elements more defined. Thanks for taking us up to the "frozen north!" |

Hi Jerry, I love your image: the arched gateway providing the framing of the street scene; the old darker walls and doorways in the front against the lighter, apparently more modern building in the back; a few pedestrians in the distance adding a human element; the worn pavers emphasizing the old world feeling of the scene; and a couple of shop signs hanging out to define the kind of street. Really tells a great story, and I wouldn't change a thing. |

Thanks, Pierre- You're right. I was drawn to the rocky outcropping as a focal point of the image, but since you've cropped it out, the scene improves with the focus on the fence and the castle walls. Thanks! About the lady on the wall, I debabated about whether to take her out of the picture, but she seemed to add a little human dimension/perspective to the image. |
