Hi Frans- I love Japanese gardens with all the trees and rocks and other textures, and I'm really drawn to your picture with its lovely fall colors. My only suggestion is that the reflection of the trees and sky in the water are so attractive that it might be nice to have a little more of the sky reflection. I tried adding a bit with "generative fill" in Photoshop, and here's the result. |

hi Kathryn, what a fascinating shot, with a fascinating story behind it. I'll have to admit that despite its history as an upscale residence, it comes across like a prison island, something like Alcatraz prison in California. I wonder if the white windows are glass reflections of the sky or if they are white-painted wood coverings of the windows. Would love to know more of the story behind it. Regardless, it's a nice shot portraying abandonment and isolation of a once popular area. Tells a great story.

Hi Geoff- Like the others, I was really puzzled by the image at first, but appreciate the explanation. Rather than a landscape, the image seems more like an abstract, and the forms and colors are very attractive. If you enter it into a competition, I expect it will need some explanation, but it's very appealing. |

Hi Pierre, Seems like such a pleasant and inviting neighborhood. Love the colors- really bright and sharp- and the long shadows. The street really beckons you to walk down it and explore. I'm really drawn to the photo and the image that it projects of the neighborhood. |

I love pictures of lighted structures at night, and this bridge is a great subject. I wonder if it would help the bridge to stand out more if the background and foreground were darkened a bit. Also, you might consider cropping some of the buildings on the right and left sides to focus on the bridge. I tried it and the result is attached. |
