I'm really drawn to this image with the bright clear foreground featuring the dramatic balloon against the hazier background. I think it makes a wonderful natural contrast which I could imagine seeing and experiencing if I were there (which I would love!). The angle of the sun lighting up the scene is perfect, and makes the foreground scene "pop" and the mountain or hill in the background really helps to define the scene. I really like this! |

Great work, Kathryn! I love the strong image in the front with the leading lines of the wall and shadow, and backed up by the skyline of the city in the back. I love the V-shape formed by the castle and the wall which highlight the water and city behind it. A very appealing picture!

Thanks, Terina- that's what drew me to the photo, as well.

Hi Geoff- I love silhouette pictures like this, especially those in front of setting sun. The colors are very appealing. My only impression is that the tree might be too prominent in the picture, and the picture might be more attractive with a smaller tree- as if the picture were taken from further away. I tried modifying it just a bit to see if that helped. |

Hi Terena- Yes, that's a very dramatic picture showing a gathering storm- makes you imagine what happened next. However, it's such a wide angle picture that I'm not quite sure where to focus my attention. Also, I agree with Frans that the very smooth water might not match the threat of the coming storm. I do like the way the lighting of the buildings and bridge show up with the darker sky.

Hi Pierre- I'm very drawn to this scene with the mountains focussing your attention on the sky and the reflection in the water. I agree with the comments about the distracting logs, but I really like the person- your son- in the picture. I wish he were wearing a different color top to make him a little more distinguishable. I missed seeing him at first thinking that his green top was part of the landscape. |

Tami, I really like this a lot. The scene just draws you in and makes you want to listen in to the musician- and wonder about his/her story. I love the tones of the picture, and the minimal images to distract your attention. That's a real winner!

Thanks, Geoff, I did try turning it a bit, but the walls and doors weren't very straight, so it was hard to find a good compromise. But, good observation!

Thanks so much, Pierre. There wasn't as much light there as it seems in the picture, so I was concerned about hand-holding the camera, but glad it turned out.
