You have done a wonderful job in bringing out the colors of your buildings - your subject - and their surrounding foliage. I find the blank sky a distraction. Could you darken it a crop it down to leave just above the tree line?
I always enjoy your travelogues accompanying your photographs. India has so much beauty.

Brian:
Your image is beautiful. You were in the right place at just the right time, with all of the elements of water, ice, mist, ship and sky coming together. The shapes of the ice floes are intriguing. I might crop down a little on the sky and clone out the few black spots on the ice. (as a 2nd project I'd like to edit it in B&W.)

Trey: Is "Honken" a species of sunflower, the farm family name, or a Wisconsin figure of speech? Just askin'. I have never had much success with sunflowers, but you have them presented them beautifully by pairing the flowers with the barn and the blue sky for background. I found the flowers a little overexposed, and would have opted for the exposure in your original image.

Quang Phan: You have captured the beauty and the simplicity of the Amish countryside at its finest. The family in their buggy, leads us into the image and the road, bounded on both sides by the lush green fields, to the silos and farm buildings clustered in the distance. I found the brilliance of the fields a bit too high, and would have softened the color a bit; and I would probably have cloned out the power lines and poles (but I might regret that move.

Charles: This is a striking image, conveying a powerful sense of place. It is beautiful and well balanced. The colors you have brought out from your sky treatment contrasted by the blackness of the stone and the blues of the sea bring everything together. |

Thanks Trey. Your points are well taken. Somehow the original has been lost in my storage files, along with many pics from this trip. |
