Trey:
I hear you. Re. the crop, changing from a vertical to a horizontal format may have been a bad move; I thought that cobblestones at bottom of the original were a distraction. Re. the people, I left them in to show depth and scale of the image. I changed the sky and the mountain to make both more important; my "story" is the suddenness with which the mountain and the sky obliterated a civilization. Thanks for your thoughts; I will try to get back to this picture again. |

Welcome Brian. This is a wonderful image. (I've often heard the suggestion to "look behind" when shooting, but rarely do so.) Your composition is nicely balanced, the sky colors and detail are rich and the pathway draws my eye to the stark tree silhouetted. I might suggest that you brighten the foreground just a little to reveal a bit more detail without distracting from the rest of the image.

You have taken an already-beautiful image and enhanced it a great deal through your editing. Cleaning up the sky opened the entire scene. Your foreground with the people adds to the depth of the overall image.

Charles: I like this image for its simple beauty. The elements are beautifully balanced, with the gravestones leading the eye into the church and right up to the door. The reds and whites are clear and crisp without being overdone. The fog lends a sense of peace and solitude. I'm glad you stopped on your journey.

Your image is a cut above the "typical Fall Foliage" image. You have used the fog to create a place of quiet and calm, and to invite the viewer to walk with you as the new day dawns. I wouldn't change a thing.

Trey: This is a beautiful image, with all of the components - barn, setting, sky - working together. I get a sense of calm and a sense of permanence, which the threatening clouds will not disturb.

Thanks, Steven. Either I wasn't thinking about the history or my memory is worse than I thought. And thanks for supporting my pink sky.
