I think that is a good decision to convert to mono. I like it better. Part of what I liked about the original image was it almost looked like a black and white, and I was like intrigued by that. But seeing your conversion, I like it better I think. What do you mean you increased the structure? |

Thank you. I have appreciated your other comments and the focus on tonal range. There was an Ansel Adams exhibition here (Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, Va) which talked a lot about his 11 zone system. Seeing that and what he was doing was informative. I started paying more attention to the histogram. |

Thank you for trying some things out. Which tools did you use? |

I am glad you like it. I think that in B & W the orange on the left edge of the picture does not compete with the orange around the eyes of the figure on the right, so it is easier when viewing to focus on the two characters. |

Very nice image. I wonder what it would be like with a wider aperture, so the background would fade a bit and the eye would focus more on the wood. Also I wondered about how it would look in B & W. I played with it a bit, converting it and putting a mask on the wood and sharpening that. I am not sure. Maybe should have left it alone. |

You should definitely do more shooting! I love this photograph. I completely agree that the dialogue between the eyes of the graffiti and the model is wonderful. How do you find your models? I did find myself wondering how the image would look in B & W. The colors in the photograph distracted me a bit from the main interaction of the two characters. I did some work on it, converting to B & W and then masking both characters and sharpening them, adding a bit of exposure. I am not sure, But here is what I did. |
