Mark--To me she seems watchful; she is waiting for someone to come. I like the slight distortion of the hand against the glass. The brightness in the upper left is a little too much, I think. Her face is beautifully presented; evenly lit and an attractive portrait. I like this image very much. |

Robin--This is a strange and wonderful image. I love the ambiguity; what is happening here? What is the figure's relationship with the boat? Why is the boat in this narrow channel? What is the reason for the glowing mist in the lower left corner? I like that the image creates questions in my mind. It almost seems apocalyptic. I would not change it. |

Peter--These three costumed figures are just like a scene from a Victorian story; Sherlock Holmes, perhaps. The fact that they are chatting naturally rather than posed makes it even more compelling. The policeman's dark uniform anchors the composition, with the other two "bookends" completing it. I love the three different hats. I think the nice tight crop works well. Super! |

Maude--I also prefer the image without the starburst effect. The silhouette of the figure and the fence, with mist for a background, tells a good story; although I don't get a sense loneliness as much as contemplation. Congratulations on your epic journey across the country! Yellowstone is a fascinating place to take pictures. I did not attend the event in Portland even though I am only three hours away. I hope someday I will get to this event so I can meet fellow PSA members. |

Barbara--I definately like the version you chose best. I think the shadow is important because it gives us more information about the horse and his harness. The fact that you managed to capture a horse interacting with you like this is wonderful. I love that he is walking (trotting?) intO the frame, suggesting motion and movement which is very appropriate for a fast horse. Terrific image! |

Thank you for the nice feedback. I think you're right about it needing a touch more contrast. As for the pipe: I'm not good at fancy techniques like removing objects; I work on a pretty bare bones system. But now that you mention it, it is definately an unwanted element. |

Thank you, Maude. I love your choice of the words "history and endurance"; that's it exactly! As always, I appreciate your thoughtful feedback. |

Thanks, Peter. I did not notice the piping on the hat but now that you pointed it out it seems obviously distracting. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. |
